What is your mind focused on?

But, as it is written,

“What no eye has seen, nor ear heard,
nor the heart of man imagined,
what God has prepared for those who love
Him”—

these things God has revealed to us through the Spirit. For the Spirit searches everything, even the depths of God. For who knows a person’s thoughts except the spirit of that person, which is in him? So also no one comprehends the thoughts of God except the Spirit of God. Now we have received not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, that we might understand the things freely given us by God. And we impart this in words not taught by human wisdom but taught by the Spirit, interpreting spiritual truths to those who are spiritual. 1 Corinthians 2:9-13

Read that passage again… slower. Pause. Ponder. Lean into the Holy Spirit. What glorious mysteries has God prepared for each one of us that are still to come? Now I can imagine some really wild and wonderful things! And it is going to be beyond that?!?! There is SO much we love about this life and earth that God has created, and it currently is a ‘messed up version’. This is why this creation and life is often called a ‘shadow’ of the real.

Since you became alive again, so to speak, when Christ arose from the dead, now set your sights on the rich treasures and joys of heaven where He sits beside God in the place of honor and power. Let heaven fill your thoughts; don’t spend your time worrying about things down here. You should have as little desire for this world as a dead person does. Your real life is in heaven with Christ and God. And when Christ who is our real life comes back again, you will shine with Him and share in all His glories. Colossians 3:1-4 TLB

How often we are dragged back into the muck and reality of this day and the situation / issue before us. I’m not suggesting you ignore them, but to keep the reality of heaven in your scope WHILE you deal with what is directly in front of you. What really is of value … eternally? Press into the Holy Spirit as you navigate your daily routines, relationships, and work. Allow Him to be WITH you in conversation throughout your day and remind you of what He wants in your life.

We often have a bad case of ‘earthly’ myopia. We can only ‘see’ what is directly in front of our physical eyes. Yet… we also have ‘spiritual eyes’ and ‘spiritual ‘ears’. How do we learn to ‘see and hear’ what He wants to show us… in the spiritual realm? Are we so fearful, stubborn, or prideful that it hinders our spirit? Do you have a ‘childlike’ faith, belief, imagination, and trust in Him… and ask Him to help you understand spiritual things? Have you ever asked Him to help you understand … Heaven and what He has in store for you … even to the smallest degree? The things He has given me in that vein … are what I identify as my ‘pearls’ that I treasure deep in my heart. This isn’t a small thing. Paul often reminds us to set our minds on the Spirit and the things ‘above’, and not on earthly things. These things are what ‘build’ our faith and are foundational to our spiritual understanding. The Rhema “Word” of God spoken directly to our hearts IS the very building blocks of our spiritual understanding.

Holy Spirit be with me today. Show me what You want me to see. I want to hear You. I want to invest this day You have given me for eternity and YOUR glory! Help me to hear You, I want to see what YOU want to show me. Thank Jesus! I want to walk with YOU today.

Heaven IS NEARER than you think.
