The voice of the LORD calls out to the city
(and it is sound wisdom to fear Your name):
“Heed the rod
and the One who ordained it.
Can I forget any longer,
O house of the wicked,
the treasures of wickedness
and the short ephah, which is accursed?
Can I excuse dishonest scales
For the wealthy of the city
are full of violence,
and its residents speak lies;
their tongues are deceitful in their mouths.
Therefore I am striking you severely,
to ruin you because of your sins.
You will eat but not be satisfied,
and your hunger will remain with you.
What you acquire, you will not preserve;
and what you save, I will give to the sword.
You will sow but not reap;
you will press olives but not anoint yourselves with oil;
you will tread grapes but not drink the wine.
You have kept the statutes of Omri
and all the practices of Ahab’s house;
you have followed their counsel.
Therefore I will make you a desolation,
and your inhabitants an object of contempt;
you will bear the scorn of the nations.” Micah 6:9-16
What has been will be again,
and what has been done will be done again;
there is nothing new under the sun. Ecclesiastes 1:9
Cycles. Does history repeat itself? Kind of. It has to do with the heart of Mankind. The Holy Spirit through Jeremiah states it this way.
The heart is deceitful above all things
and beyond cure.
Who can understand it? Jeremiah 17:9
Obviously… God understands it. He is the One who created it, and the power of free will He gave to it. Our choices are powerful. Do we choose His path for us or do we choose another?
The final ripple of prophecy brings it all to a close. And the promise of ‘new’ is in His hands alone. Mankind is arrogant enough to think that they can ‘fix it’. They cannot. Centralized power in the hands of Man leads to debauchery and evil. Why? Reread Jeremiah 17:9. Will Mankind ever learn that their ‘way’ leads to death and destruction?
How are “your” plans going? Have you learned to desire and follow His plans over your own? America is much like any other ‘great shining hill’ moment in Man’s history. With God they flourish, and the moment they cast Him aside for their own plans – the slide into oblivion begins. We so quickly forget – that it is a daily battle. That the ‘war’ is NOT really in this ‘realm. His advice rings in TRUTH – throughout history.
and if My people who are called by My name humble themselves and pray and seek My face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, forgive their sin, and heal their land. 2 Chronicles 7:14
Where is the real ‘war’?
For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this world’s darkness, and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. Ephesians 6:12
The latest ‘disclosures’ that are ‘quietly’ being released from our government – read like a science fiction novel. They’ve known all along. The evil wants to stay hidden to the last possible moment. But NOW it is becoming impossible to hide. God is revealing His Truth – that all may have a choice. Do we choose Him or do we choose our own ‘way’? In great calamity do we turn back to Him? Will most believe the lies and deception that the enemies of God will spew out of their mouths to explain all this weirdness?
Where will you turn in the ‘day of calamity’?
The Holy Spirit through Isaiah has some stern words for our behavior.
But the people did not return to Him who struck them;
they did not seek the LORD of Hosts.
So the LORD will cut off Israel’s head and tail,
both palm branch and reed in a single day.
The head is the elder and honorable man,
and the tail is the prophet who teaches lies.
For those who guide this people mislead them,
and those they mislead are swallowed up.
Therefore the Lord takes no pleasure in their young men;
He has no compassion on their fatherless and widows.
For every one of them is godless and wicked,
and every mouth speaks folly.
Despite all this, His anger is not turned away;
His hand is still upraised. Isaiah 9:13-17
Father …we seek YOU! YOU alone are our Source and Salvation! Jesus YOUR blood sets us free! Holy Spirit guide us in YOUR way.
Lord …we seek YOUR mercy!
