What is time …to you?

But do not overlook this one fact, beloved, that with the Lord one day is as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day. 2 Peter 3:8

How often do you prioritize time over God? Do you ever think time is more important than spending time with God? Do you ever fret over not having enough time? Do you often cut short your prayer time with Him because of time? Do you constantly feel the pressure of time? How much does time warp your view of God? Are you upset that God doesn’t work on your time? Do you often think God is late? Can you admit that you give into time more than you give into God? Does time rule your life or does God?

Look carefully then how you walk, not as unwise but as wise, making the best use of the time, because the days are evil. Therefore do not be foolish, but understand what the will of the Lord is. Ephesians 5:15-17

Come now, you who say, “Today or tomorrow we will go into such and such a town and spend a year there and trade and make a profit”— yet you do not know what tomorrow will bring. What is your life? For you are a mist that appears for a little time and then vanishes.  Instead you ought to say, “If the Lord wills, we will live and do this or that.” James 1:13-15

How much do your fears revolve around time? Do you fear about not having enough time? How is God limited by time? Do you really believe the answer you just had to that question? How much do your actions line up with how you answered? What does omniscient mean? Do you really believe God is omniscient? What about omnipotent? What about omnipresent? How are these abilities affected by time? Does God see the future done?

Can you trust God for your future? Can you trust Him for all that needs to be done… today? Can you find His peace in the midst of the ‘pressing time’?

And behold, there arose a great storm on the sea, so that the boat was being swamped by the waves; but He was asleep. Matthew 8:24

When in a great transitional time of your life, how much does time rule over what you do? Or are you yielding to His peace and quiet instructions? The key is NOT the time, but our focus. How much time do you have when you are WITH God? Can God bend time to His plan… for you? I can name several scriptural references to exactly that scenario. Can you think of any? When walking with the Creator of time… how will you ever be late? Or early? Is it your perspective or His that determines the ‘rightness’ of time?

I think we often have time as an idol in our lives. Often our concept of time rules our perspective more than our abiding relationship with Him. Do you ever offer up “your” time to Him and then listen for His instructions to you? Do you allow the facade of time steal your peace, and cause you anxiety? Do the enemies of God often chide you in your mind with thoughts about not having enough time? Do you recognize when the enemy is trying to steal your peace and abiding Presence with God? Does the enemy use time against you?

Lord Jesus, I give you ALL OF MY TIME! Come and fill me with Your peace and Presence. Father, I want to be in Your plan and time. Holy Spirit be clear with Your comforting words to my soul. I yield to You Holy Spirit. I want today to be invested correctly Lord Jesus. Please guide my steps. Jesus YOU ARE the LORD of time!

  1. Perhaps one of the greatest challenges facing the American church, and therefore, all of us. Our prosperity brought on by the blessings of God have also brought us worldly pleasures too numerous to count but serving as a distraction and great consumer of our daily and weekly “time”.

It now becomes a spiritual battle just to try and carve out time with the Lord.
The Lord has led me to imagine Jesus right beside me. Sitting next to me in the truck; walking with me around the property or on the job; sitting beside me by the pool etc
Still a difficult discipline to maintain
