Understanding value and love.

My soul, wait in silence for God alone,
For my hope is from Him.
He alone is my rock and my salvation,
My refuge; I will not be shaken.
My salvation and my glory rest on God;
The rock of my strength, my refuge is in God.
Trust in Him at all times, you people;
Pour out your hearts before Him;
God is a refuge for us. Selah

People of low standing are only breath, and people of rank are a lie;
In the balances they go up.
Together they are lighter than breath.
Do not trust in oppression,
And do not vainly rely on robbery;
If wealth increases, do not set your heart on it.

God has spoken once;
Twice I have heard this:
That power belongs to God;
And faithfulness is Yours, Lord,
For You reward a person according to his work. Psalm 62:5-12

As this world spins and speeds up with calamities increasing by the day – where should we be focused? How do we remain in His presence, when the distractions are increasing exponentially? How do we navigate the ‘unknown’, and trust, while fear is staring us down? How do we remain calm and maintain peace when all of our savings and investments vanish in an hour? Throughout the scriptures there are many truths guiding us to practices that can keep us in the right direction if we remember them and ask for His help. Like…

Trust in the Lord with all your heart
And do not lean on your own understanding.
In all your ways acknowledge Him,
And He will make your paths straight. Proverbs 3:5-6

There can be a lifetime of experiences to realize the depths of the truth of these two little verses. There are many ‘treasures’ in scripture that are more valuable than any earthly treasure. Eternal truths bring His peace as you begin to explore and understand the depth of the many different facets. Those securing eternal truths / treasures find His peace embedded within them. Here in His Word (both logos and rhema) is found real value and love … as John finally realized when He was told by the Holy Spirit this truth…

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things came into being through Him, and apart from Him not even one thing came into being that has come into being. In Him was life, and the life was the Light of mankind. And the Light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not grasp it. John 1:1-5

There is the eternal explanation of Truth … and love. The older I get the more I realize my need for Him to implant His ‘fruit’ and ‘faith’ in my life and being. It is HIM… not me that does this ‘work’. My job is to trust Him and surrender to His work in me. Do I kick and fight against the current Holy Spirit’s work and conviction in my life? Or am I constantly in a state of humble surrender to Him? My job is to choose Him constantly – throughout my day. Staying focused in conversation with Him moment by moment. When I do that well – that’s when I begin to notice the real ‘value’ of things and people.

It is our choice every morning. Will we surrender to Him this morning … first thing? Will we greet the day asking for Him to guide us and direct us … from a heart of love for Him over everything else? Are you creating this daily habit of greeting Him the moment you wake up and asking Him for His plans for you … that day?

Holy Spirit teach us what YOU value and love. Show us YOUR heart. Reprogram our minds to understand YOUR truth.
