The End?

We don’t yet see things clearly. We’re squinting in a fog, peering through a mist. But it won’t be long before the weather clears and the sun shines bright! We’ll see it all then, see it all as clearly as God sees us, knowing him directly just as he knows us! 1 Corinthians 13:12 MSG

“His purpose was for the nations to seek after God and perhaps feel their way toward him and find him—though he is not far from any one of us. For in him we live and move and exist. As some of your own poets have said, ‘We are his offspring.’ And since this is true, we shouldn’t think of God as an idol designed by craftsmen from gold or silver or stone.

“God overlooked people’s ignorance about these things in earlier times, but now he commands everyone everywhere to repent of their sins and turn to him. For he has set a day for judging the world with justice by the man he has appointed, and he proved to everyone who this is by raising him from the dead.” Acts 17:27-31 NLT

So teach us to number our days, That we may gain a heart of wisdom. Psalms 90:12 NKJV

None of us really know how many days we personally have left. Everyone has an ‘appointed time’. It is inevitable. Now there are those saying that they will escape that demise, by transferring themselves into machines. But only the ‘elite’ or ‘smart ones’ will be allowed to do so. I think I’d rather believe the One who came back from the dead and was raised into an eternal form. Jesus said He was preparing a place for us. How important is it to be aware of our time left? The Psalmist said we would ‘gain a heart of wisdom’ if we consider our days left.

When you try to wrap your brain around infinity and the eternal — it obviously ‘tilts’ (a very old term / euphemism anyone who played the old pinball machines will understand). We are somewhat aware like 1 Corinthians 13:12 says… but then and there we will see clearly and know. When everything in this world looks like it is coming apart, and the mountains shake, and the volcanos erupt, and the bombs fall … where is your assured hope? Where is your …faith? When the income stops? When all seems lost and you can see no way forward? When the pressure builds to levels you’ve never experiences before … what do you do? When death is at your doorstep … what do you do? How well do you really KNOW Him?

Today I encourage you to go and meet with Him. Spend some time pouring your heart out to Him. He knows your fears, but do you? Can you identify those things in your soul that are really at your core that are pushing His peace out of your heart? Do you ask Him about what you need to do …today?

Everything in me resonates that “time is short”. We need to be about making each day count …for eternity. Maybe because now I’ve reached an age I never thought I would. I really didn’t expect to be around for today. I’ve been living on ‘His time’ since 1974. Each day is about ‘service to Him’, His agenda, His way.  For almost 50 years I’ve been living … like each day could be my last. Obviously there were days where the ‘feeling’ wasn’t so strong, but the awareness was still there. My life is not my own, and neither is yours if you truly have died to yours and been raised in His (this is the symbolism of the water baptism).

So PUSH your resolve — set yourself before Him today. Listen for that ‘still small Voice’.
