What exactly is spiritual light? This question is answered by many who have an agenda to push, usually to get you to ‘buy into’ something. But the Truth is far more complex and a mystery than most understand.
Spiritual light isn’t just a mental thing. It’s more than just having a vast store of mental knowledge. It is possible to have huge amounts of doctrine and truth but never be ‘luminaries’ that have any impact on the real ‘darkness’. Real spiritual light comes by the way of courage and faith to step out in the instructions personally given to you from the Holy Spirit, which will come through the fruit of experience, … the experience of suffering.
How have you ‘children of God’ come to know what you do know of the Lord? Let the reader understand… that real kind of knowledge of the Lord which is so precious to us, and means so much to us … personally… is through suffering, it is through the difficult way the Lord has led you, it is through the work of the cross that by which He paid for you. “The Lamb is the LAMP.” …. suffering leading to knowledge and .. light, to understanding. It is the only way.
This reality doesn’t sound very comforting or … uplifting. But the truth isn’t always comfortable. The truth helps us realize that the way the Lord is dealing with us, through the sufferings He allows to come upon us, is really seeking our spiritual education, that we would have a personal knowledge of Himself .. which can only come that way, and which is a peculiar kind of knowledge of tremendous value to us and through us to others. We do not learn spiritual light knowledge any other way. “The LAMB is the lamp thereof”; and, just as it is deeper death unto fuller life, so it may often be deeper darkness and weakness unto fuller …light and strength.
The Lord seems to lead us in a way where we are less and less able to naturally understand Him. The Holy Spirit pushes us altogether out of our natural capacity, beyond our natural comprehension for interpreting His ways. We just do not know what the Lord is doing, or even why He is doing what He is doing; yet it is by the way by which we come to a real kind of inward knowledge of .. Himself. Again — my words are attempting to explain something that remains mostly a mystery even to myself, but I’ve seen glimpses of His … Light. I may not be able to explain it correctly .. but “I know” in my ‘inward Man’ the beginning of these truths. The spiritual light begins at the cross, and THROUGH the cross.
The work and life of T. Austin-Sparks has made me ‘chew’ on much as Oswald Chambers has also influenced me in ways. The deeper walk with Christ … the spiritual ‘meat’ is a challenge to anyone who desires to walk that path. Some things just aren’t as simple .. especially as you grow into real maturity.
