Therefore if there is any encouragement and comfort in Christ [as there certainly is in abundance], if there is any consolation of love, if there is any fellowship [that we share] in the Spirit, if [there is] any [great depth of] affection and compassion, make my joy complete by being of the same mind, having the same love [toward one another], knit together in spirit, intent on one purpose [and living a life that reflects your faith and spreads the gospel—the good news regarding salvation through faith in Christ]. The fellowship of the Spirit IS the positive spirit of fellowship. It is never a passive thing. Actually it can NEVER be a passive thing because the enemies of God are there to constantly fight against it. If there is one thing the enemy is determined to disrupt …it is the fellowship with the Holy Spirit and the fellowship of the people of God. The enemy is unceasing in their work to by any means disrupt, and destroy that fellowship, because that fellowship spells their final undoing. This is why that fellowship can never be a passive kind of thing. We must fight for it, stand strong for it, and have endurance to maintain it. For the warfare will intensify over you as you intentionally set yourself to be in fellowship with the Holy Spirit and with those members of the Body with who you are tightly connected to. Havoc, delay, and distractions will always be thrown at you as you prioritize this fellowship. This fellowship in the Holy Spirit AND the Body is crucial for our spiritual health and well being, for when we are dislocated in the physical body .. there is a natural and perpetual ache…
That ache within our souls and heart is actually a positive sign of our need for fellowship, vertically and horizontally. But if you go on long enough not pursuing that fellowship with Him, then He will withdraw and leave you to your own agenda, because He is always ‘positive’. He is ALWAYS going on with His agenda and plan, and it is up to us whether we will join with Him or not. This can create a very serious situation. It could become grim and terrible in your situation. But the truth is that the Holy Spirit is ALWAYS positive on the matter of fellowship. We must challenge our hearts with this. For the Holy Spirit, normally, is always positive, to the level of almost ..aggressive, for He is NEVER negative. He is NEVER neutral. If you find that He has paused… it means He is waiting for something (His timing); for His nature is to go on and complete it. He is ALWAYS working …for He is pure energy, and the life (zoe) of God.
Purpose yourself to be IN fellowship today with the Holy Spirit. Purpose yourself to be in fellowship with the members of the Body you are deeply connected to … today. Call them. Talk to them. Pray for them. Connect with them.
May the energy and life of the Holy Spirit fill us today for His purposes and glory!
