For consider your calling, brothers: not many of you were wise according to worldly standards, not many were powerful, not many were of noble birth. But God chose what is foolish in the world to shame the wise; God chose what is weak in the world to shame the strong; God chose what is low and despised in the world, even things that are not, to bring to nothing things that are, so that no human being might boast in the presence of God. And because of him you are in Christ Jesus, who became to us wisdom from God, righteousness and sanctification and redemption, so that, as it is written, “Let the one who boasts, boast in the Lord.” 1 Corinthians 1:26-31
With the Holy Spirit our calling in Him is possible. Each of us were designed with a purpose in the mind and heart of the Father. We were given natural abilities and gifts that would lead to that purpose. But because we also have been given free-will and choice, because of love, we must choose to ‘follow Him’ and learn of that ‘specific purpose’ the Father had in His heart for each one of us. With the power and creativity of the Holy Spirit we can develop into that ‘calling’ by listening to Him and being very obedient and attentive to His lessons and tasks, as He asks us to grow in Him.
The most exciting and fulfilling times in my life is when I have allowed the Holy Spirit to challenge me, when I actually stepped out of my ‘boat’ into the uncertain waters by faith. Those ‘waters’ weren’t easy to navigate. I had to learn to listen and lean on His Voice really heavy during those times, as there was significant spiritual warfare trying to impede my progress in the tasks I had been given. Currently I am still in that ‘process’ of attempting to carry out all the instructions He has given me. What about you? Are you leaning into His calling for you? Daily it is a challenge to press into Him and listen. Let me encourage you to ‘press in’ and not quit. Our enemy seeks to stop us in our tracks and make us at least neutral, without any forward progress. But Jesus wants us to move forward with steps of faith in obedience to that ‘still small Voice’ in our spirit and heart.
You are MORE than you think. He knows your extreme potential. You are always welcomed into His plans if you ask Him. He wants you to work along side Him. He called it “His yoke”. (Matthew 11:28-30) Spend some time in your ‘secret place’ with Him each day if you can. Tell Him everything that is in your heart. Then listen to what He will say to you.
I’m always amazed when I get to watch Him work. I’m also amazed when I see His work in me and through me. I quickly realize it is Him and not my ‘brilliance’ that causes any kind of success or forward movement. It is His power, grace, mercy, creativity, and love that is to be recognized. And ALL praise must go to Him, which I gladly DO! Because I can feel His love and purpose in me, and know that when I am in ‘concert’ with Him that my potential and the Father’s purpose and plan for me is actually realized. I do not know any better experience than to be with Him. Our ‘calling’ has a purpose. We were made for His joy and love. And we were made to share that joy and love with others through our ‘calling’ and purpose.
Now GO! Go and be fruitful and multiply! Let the Holy Spirit inflame your heart! Be determined to work with Him today! Let the Holy Spirit direct your day and direction.
