Potential

Today’s scripture reading Psalms 139.

Did you know God had a plan for you BEFORE you even breathed your first breath? So if God had a “plan” for you and a purpose that only you are uniquely designed to carry out in a very specific way — then the characteristics that are uniquely us all have a purpose. Our DNA, our strengths, our abilities, were all put there for the …purpose and the potential to be all that He had in His mind for us when He designed us.

We often complain about our seemingly difficult parts of us. We focus on what we think are our deficiencies. Could be our bodies, or the things we think that make us ugly, or our weaknesses that cause us to stumble, or our inabilities to be like everyone else. But those things also play a part of who we are. Unfortunately our greatest strengths can also be our greatest weaknesses. What do I mean by that? A strong and gifted mind can create, and critically think, and work out problems, and design. But that mind manipulated by evil can wreak all sorts of havoc on themselves and those around them.

This potential for His purpose that lies within all of us is really only activated when we yield to our Creator and ask Him to indwell us. When we actually join with Him in relationship, and fellowship, and life. What about all those that don’t join with him? That potential for His purpose in them is lost. He loves the WHOLE world. Free will and our spirit and our ability to choose is beyond our comprehension of truly understanding of the magnitude of the difference we can have on the WHOLE thing … only if we would only align ourselves with Him, and ask Him to show us our way, our purpose. I believe we were actually designed to be co-joined with Him. To be indwelled by His Holy Spirit. We have a God-size hole in our souls that only He can fill.

For many of us that journey of His revealed plan for us must begin in the small simple ways. Learning how to hear His Voice. Learning how to follow His instructions to us. (I mean this by the Rhema Word of God) We often have to take the steps daily, and sometimes as hourly, to choose to put Him in front of all our decisions. Read Proverbs 3:5-8 “… in ALL your ways acknowledge Him…” We have to learn obedience to His promptings, His words to us, His wishes for us.

God loves you. He created you with all of your unique gifts, talents, and characteristics. You have potential that ONLY He knows. You also have a purpose that He wants you to fulfill. To do that we will have to learn how to choose correctly. To make the right decisions we are faced with in our lives. Even the small things can throw us off the path if we decide wrong. Yes, I know it can be VERY frustrating. But He also provided a way for us to get back on track. Its called repentance. Ask Him to forgive you, turn around, and go the other way. Here’s a novel thought, what about asking Him what you should choose?

Envy not what others have. What they have won’t help you fulfill what God has designed specifically for you. Be grateful for what you have, and be willing to give any of it up if He tells you to. Back to the pruning lesson.

Our plans are not His plans. And our thoughts are not His thoughts. So how do we come in line with both of those?

If your a regular reader here, you know. It’s by an intimate relationship with the indwelling Presence of the Holy Spirit.
