Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make straight your paths. Proverbs 3:5-6
Moreover, look for able men from all the people, men who fear God, who are trustworthy and hate a bribe, and place such men over the people as chiefs of thousands, of hundreds, of fifties, and of tens. Exodus 18:21
The Lord is a stronghold for the oppressed,
a stronghold in times of trouble.
And those who know Your name put their trust in You,
for You, O Lord, have not forsaken those who seek You. Psalm 9:9-10
Some trust in chariots and some in horses, but we trust in the name of the Lord our God. Psalm 20:7
Because you have trusted in your own way
and in the multitude of your warriors,
therefore the tumult of war shall arise among your people,
and all your fortresses shall be destroyed, Hosea 10:13b-14a
He also told this parable to some who trusted in themselves that they were righteous, and treated others with contempt: “Two men went up into the temple to pray, one a Pharisee and the other a tax collector. The Pharisee, standing by himself, prayed thus: ‘God, I thank you that I am not like other men, extortioners, unjust, adulterers, or even like this tax collector. I fast twice a week; I give tithes of all that I get.’ But the tax collector, standing far off, would not even lift up his eyes to heaven, but beat his breast, saying, ‘God, be merciful to me, a sinner!’ I tell you, this man went down to his house justified, rather than the other. For everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, but the one who humbles himself will be exalted.” Luke 18:9-14
We humans can be a fickle bunch. Easily manipulated and conned. Our advisories literally have been studying us for millennia every since the ‘seed’ war began (Genesis 3:15). We are extremely predictable and habitual. If one studies a family tree and the habits of each generation watching what the weaknesses and vulnerabilities are … a strategic plan to take them down could easily be set into place. Familiar spirits do this practice. What exactly is a ‘familiar spirit’? It can be a person who communicates with the ‘dead’ disembodied spirits to derive ‘secret’ information from them. Our enemy watches and studies us. These disembodied spirits (Nephilim / demons at the behest of the fallen angels) from the time of Noah are seeking to disrupt and destroy the ‘family’ of God. How much of your actions are predictable? Are you easily tempted? How much can be learned from watching you 24/7, for they do not sleep like you do.
Who can you align with to be encouraged, strengthened, and taught in this spiritual battlefield called earth? Who do you really …know? Who has seen you at your lowest moments… and is still with you? Who have you stuck with even when they have made really dumb decisions? Who you choose to align yourself with is more important than you know. Real spiritual integrity matters. Real faithfulness is valuable. Real inner strength of character is rare. Who are you willing to be in a foxhole with when life and death is imminent? Choose your friends wisely. For your integrity can easily be weakened by other weak members.
Who is the Lord asking you to be joined with? Who is He asking you to separate from? Can you discern who is supposed to be in your inner circle of trust?
Father … YOU are our shelter. Jesus YOU are our rock and foundation. Holy Spirit YOU are the Master builder and connector! Guide us and help us to know who to trust. We want to keep our eyes on YOU!

Great question. I suppose that’s why our inner circle is so much smaller. It’s hard to find a core group you can absolutely count on
