Divine Appointments

For the disciple wanting to be a vessel that the Lord uses regularly, they must become aware of the divine appointments that the Lord has set up for them. What are divine appointments? They are that instance when the Holy Spirit instructs a person to do something right at that very moment. He intersects our lives in a moment to do something with Him. As disciples who have become familiar with His Presence / Voice we recognize when He comes to us and points something out and instructs us to do something or say something to someone.

I’ve learned that on a spiritual aspect, divine appointments are the times we as ‘bond-slaves’ of Christ live for. TC2 people become acutely aware of divine appointments. When I become ‘aware’ of these times that the Lord had sent my way I immediately began asking Him about them. I’ve learned to lean into those times, to not allow my schedule to dictate squeezing or shortening those divine appointments. These appointments are actually an answer to my pleas to God for Him to use me. Sometimes those appointments are a time to just pray specifically for an individual … at that very moment. I always ask the Holy Spirit what to pray at those times.

Sometimes I just recognize that a meeting with a person is my divine appointment and I must focus all of my attention to that time / individual, listening intently for His words and instructions on how to navigate that meeting with that individual. I must be patient in that appointment, not allowing other cares of the day to seep in and cause my focus to be taken from that time / or person. I remind myself this most likely is the most important thing I will do this day, so make it a priority over my time.

Have you recognized divine appointments in your life and days?

As you read through the gospels with this knowledge of divine appointments the life of Jesus is obviously filled with them. Read John 3:1-21 as one example.

Press into those appointments, for I believe they have eternal effects. I also have found the more I press in and recognize those appointments the more I appointments I receive.

Look for your divine appointment today and lean into it, asking Him what He wants you to do and say.
