For whoever would save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake will find it. Matthew 16:25
What really is courage? Many great thinkers have pondered this question.
G.K. Chesterton on courage:
“Courage in almost a contradiction in terms. It means a strong desire to live taking the form of a readiness to die. “He that will lose his life, the same shall save it” is not a piece of mysticism for the saints and heroes. It is a piece of everyday advice for sailors or mountaineers. It might be printed in an Alpine guide or a drill book. The paradox is the whole principle of courage; even of quite earthly or quite brutal courage. A man cut off by the sea may save his life if he will risk it at the precipice. He can only get away from death by continually stepping within an inch of it. A soldier surrounded by enemies, if he is to cut his way out, needs to combine a strong desire for living with a strange carelessness about dying. He must not merely cling to life, for then he will be a coward, and will not escape. He must not merely wait for death, for then he will be a suicide, and will not escape. He must seek his life in a spirit of furious indifference to it;”
This is the terminally committed to Christ life. Knowing that our life is secure only in Him, we endeavor to step into the breach for those He has directed us to. We know that this life is really His and not our own, so our commitment is to listen to the still small voice of the Spirit of God within us and obey without fear. Everyday while we are here in this shadowland we are His – to do His bidding, without complaint or fear, and with His love …that He might flow through us to a hurting and broken world. Investing our lives in eternity. We live in the daily paradox of walking with Him while still encased in our earthly bodies, weak and frail as they are.
For the sake of Christ, then, I am content with weaknesses, insults, hardships, persecutions, and calamities. For when I am weak, then I am strong. 2 Corinthians 12:10
Our strength is in Him. In Christ alone. No matter our state or status we will speak and do His will, in whatever place and time we are. We adore you Heavenly Father! We love you Jesus! Empower us Holy Spirit!
In this time where the truth is redefined by the enemies of God, and where Jesus is constantly denied and rejected, we who are TC2 will stand and love our God in the midst of this world. Many have lost their lives while doing this, and many more will join them.
These all died in faith, not having received the things promised, but having seen them and greeted them from afar, and having acknowledged that they were strangers and exiles on the earth. For people who speak thus make it clear that they are seeking a homeland. If they had been thinking of that land from which they had gone out, they would have had opportunity to return. But as it is, they desire a better country, that is, a heavenly one. Therefore God is not ashamed to be called their God, for He has prepared for them a city. Hebrews 11:13-16
“Let not your hearts be troubled. Believe in God; believe also in Me. In my Father’s house are many rooms. If it were not so, would I have told you that I go to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and will take you to Myself, that where I am you may be also.” John 14:1-3
Are you terminally committed to Christ?
Prayer: Today Lord Jesus I give you all of my life, and all my plans, and all my wants, and all my dreams. I want you Jesus more than anything else. I surrender my life to you in every facet. Today …I die to my life so that you can live your life in me.
