And they went and woke Him, saying, “Master, Master, we are perishing!” And He awoke and rebuked the wind and the raging waves, and they ceased, and there was a calm. Luke 8:24
For to us a child is born,
to us a son is given;
and the government shall be upon His shoulder,
and His name shall be called
Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God,
Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. Isaiah 9:5
Looking for calm? Jesus is the answer. Looking for peace? Jesus is the answer. Looking to survive the raging storm? Jesus is the answer. Looking for life? Jesus is the answer. Looking for the truth? Jesus is the answer. Hmm… there seems to be a pattern here.
Whenever my world becomes too turbulent and feels ‘out of control’, I must do as the disciples did, and call out to Him. What is the answer to the disaster that just swallowed you whole? Jesus. Are you feeling unsure and overwhelmed? Jesus is the answer for your heart and soul. What do you do when all of your financial resources dry up? What do you do when you lose everything, your home, and those you love? How do you navigate those life crushing events? Who do you turn to? What do you do when the doctor says you are ‘terminal’ and there is no cure?
Are your eyes set on the kingdom above? Is your hope secured in earthly things or on the heavenly ‘country’? How much does the Holy Spirit help you understand these things?
But as it is, they desire a better country, that is, a heavenly one. Therefore God is not ashamed to be called their God, for He has prepared for them a city. Hebrews 11:16
Where is your treasure?
For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also. Luke 12:34
This life is VERY short. Eternity is VERY long. That last statement is terribly understated. How can one understand the infinite? This is where most of us struggle, yet it is what God designed us for – eternal relationship with Him. That IS the goal! So now we must begin learning to invite Him into our days and conversations. We must learn to listen to Him. Jesus brings the calm. Who is your Source? What do you trust? Where is your hope?
His wisdom. His heart. His ways. His Holy Spirit. His plans. His Word. His breath. His calm. His love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. His endurance. His perseverance. —-> His life, not mine.
So today, right now, Lord Jesus I give EVERYTHING and EVERYONE to You! Jesus, I surrender to Your plan for me today. Show me Your divine appointments You have for me today. Guide me Holy Spirit throughout my ENTIRE day. Help me know Your voice clearly within me. Bring Your Rhema Word to my memory today! Remind me again and again what You have said directly to me Jesus!
