Who exactly is this Jesus?

He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation. For by Him all things were created, in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities—all things were created through Him and for Him. And He is before all things, and in Him all things hold together. Colossians 1:15-17

One needs to stop and ponder these statements… deeply. Think of the implications. Don’t rush over this truth. So who made you? Who knows you better than you know yourself? Who knows the beginning and the end? Who made time? If Jesus IS the Creator AND creator of you … shouldn’t you be looking to Him for …healing, help, and understanding? What doesn’t Jesus know?

We’ve all been scarred by this world. We’ve all been broken, hurt, maimed, and accused, whether in body or soul or both. Who should we turn to? If the answer is so easy … why is it He is usually the last one we ask for help? Why do we look to everyone and everything else but Him?

All of us have deep wounds that lie within our soul. Often it is the small child within us that carries those wounds and hurts. We somehow need to integrate than small inner child within us with our adult selves. But that takes healing and someone who knows who to put all the broken pieces back together. Who better than the One who made us? Have you ever asked Jesus about that small child within your memories that holds all those wounds and fears deep within your soul? Have you ever asked Jesus to help that small child within you? How about asking Jesus to heal that small child?

I often ponder all the ‘versions’ of myself that live within my soul. I know exactly how that small child reacts and thinks. I know how the ‘teenager’ in me reacts in situations. I know how my twenties newly married naïve self would attempt to deal with things. Also how the new thirty year old dad seems so clueless how to deal with children. Then there are the 40 and 50 year old versions of myself. Now this 65+ year old is struggling how to integrate all these versions of myself into a cohesive well-adjusted healthy adult who has a completely integrated soul. This is a job for Jesus. My part? I have to choose Him. I have to choose to align my will with His. I have to open the door(s) of my heart and soul to Him – to enter in and commune with and heal all those parts of myself. How is this ever done if I never stop to sit with Him? How can I really learn if I don’t integrate with the real Truth / Jesus? How can I grow and learn if I’m not willing to obey Him and do what He is asking me to do? How much do I really trust Him? Am I willing to do all those things I’m not comfortable with and scared to do – that He asks me to do? Am I willing to suffer for Him? Am I willing to die for Him?

Terminally Committed to Christ.

For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain. Philippians 1:21
