Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father except through Me.
I will ask the Father, and He will give you another Helper, so that He may be with you forever; the Helper is the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it does not see Him or know Him; but you know Him because He remains with you and will be in you.
These things I have spoken to you while remaining with you. But the Helper, the Holy Spirit whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and remind you of all that I said to you. Peace I leave you, My peace I give you; not as the world gives, do I give to you. Do not let your hearts be troubled, nor fearful.” John 14:6, 16-17, 25-27
In these days, where the myriads of voices have exponentially exploded… who are you listening to? Wherever we turn… another voice is trying to get our attention. And we naturally tune in. How comfortable are you in complete silence? How long can you go before you seek another voice? Which voices do you turn to first? Do you ever stop and turn everything off and ask the Holy Spirit to speak to you? Have you actually learned to … wait on His voice? Sometimes we just need to calm our own mind, soul, and body to even begin to hear Him. How important have you made this practice of ‘waiting’ on Him? What priority is it in your day?
Who actually is forming your opinions? Does the Holy Spirit ever counter your opinion with another perspective? Does He ever correct your thinking? Does He ever show you where you are wrong? What have you allowed Him to speak to you about? Have you squelched or limited what He can say to you? You DO have that choice. Are you open enough to Him that He can show you what you are not comfortable with? This is the trust in Him He wants to develop in you.
Now it is becoming crucial that we seek Him FIRST, before ALL other voices! We are naturally and now algorithmically programmed to listen to the voices we ONLY agree with. Thus, we become even more solidified in our opinions and stances, rather than being able to hear information that He actually wants to introduce to us. We naturally begin to tune Him out. Any correction from the Holy Spirit becomes easily denied within us. This is an extreme danger these days. So many Christians no longer seek His voice… from Him alone. This should NOT be you and me. Are you honestly seeking information and direction from Him alone? I hope this is your daily practice multiple times a day. So much so … it becomes a running conversation between you and the Holy Spirit throughout your entire day.
How much peace are you experiencing?
Who is the Prince of Peace? (Hint: Isaiah 9:6) Does our peace have anything to do with our own proximity to Him? That may be a sobering truth for us. I know it is for me. Can the Holy Spirit ask you difficult questions that expose the Truth or the lack of it in your own life?
Who really is your Source? Which source do you seek first when you need answers? The answers to these questions will determine the path of much of your life. Your answers will form your opinions of your reality and the truth of things you can actually hear. Many things the Lord is unable to speak to us. Why? We have allowed someone else to program us, and we will deny the Truth He wants to say to us.
Father …forgive us for listening to other voices before YOU! Forgive us Father for seeking other Sources before YOU first. Jesus … speak the Truth! Holy Spirit help us to hear the Truth of things. I want to hear from YOU first!
