The Real Cost

From that time many of His disciples went back and walked with Him no more. John 6:66

The crowds have left and went another way and you’re alone with Jesus, and He bends through all your gloom of your weakness and blindness and asks you, “You aren’t going away too, are you?”

People still get offended with Jesus today; they gladly hear His “follow Me” and they enthusiastically leave all to follow, but when the way becomes narrow, and the path leads to the cost of shedding their blood or losing their comforts, they begin to waver. As long as it means ‘peace and joy’ we will follow Jesus, but when it costs us dearly we are tempted to go back and walk no more with Him.

Today’s American institutional Church is one of …comfort and ease. Lattes, and padded seats. Nice music, and an encouraging message with three points on how to have a better week. There is no uncomfortable talk of the … Truth. And they stay nicely hidden in their four walls.

How committed are you to Him? Are you willing to face persecution and suffering for Him? Are you willing to stand up for Him when everyone around you is against Him?

Terminally Committed To Christ. It isn’t just a nice … saying. It’s a choice and commitment to YOUR very end, no matter the …cost. Even if that cost is everything you have, including your …life.

Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in needs, in persecutions, in distresses, for Christ’s sake. For when I am weak, then I am strong. 1 Corinthians 12:10

The TC2 life is one of humbly listening to the Holy Spirit for your day’s assignments, and carrying them out with faithful obedience, knowing that you are not guaranteed another day, as your life is His to do with as He pleases.

Are you willing to take the more difficult path? Or are you just a ‘comfort Christian’?
