For this reason I remind you to fan into flame the gift of God, which is in you through the laying on of my hands, for God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power and love and self-control. 2 Timothy 1:6-7
Most of us don’t realize how much our connections to the other members of the Body of Christ are important and vital to our spiritual lives. Hands won’t function so well without the wrist and arm. We (the body of Christ) are ALL connected in Him. Here in this second letter to Timothy (Most likely one of his last if not the last) Paul reminds Timothy of his spiritual linage and connection to him, and the evidence of the Holy Spirit within him, being power, love, and self control.
Let us be thankful, grateful, and give praise to God for all those who have surrounded us with their prayers, love, encouragement, and Godly wisdom. Let us give ALL praise to Jesus Christ for His sacrifice for us, which redeemed us back into the family of God. Also let us give praise to Jesus for the gift of the Holy Spirit in which He dwells in us and works through us for His glory and purposes.
I have been lately very aware of those who are being thrust into eternity .. each day. The vital message of Jesus Christ (the good news) is of such importance to everyone as they barrel towards that time when they shed this fleshly body and their soul and spirit enter the next realm and dimension. Repentance is such a HUGE message that needs to be understood by EVERYONE. Being able to understand how important the blood of Jesus Christ is to each of us, personally, vitally. Coming into His Presence with humility and gratefulness knowing the ‘fear of the Lord’ because of His Holiness, righteousness, and justice. God wants us to be with Him in His home, and we were ultimately designed for that place, and it is inherently designed in us to yearn for that place and Him.
What are we doing purposely to ‘fan the flame of the gift of God’ within us .. daily? Are you able to hear His whisper in your mind and soul? Are you aware throughout your day wherever you are, at work, driving, school, or sitting at home… of His Presence within you, and His desire to connect with you in conversation? You were made to have fellowship with Him, because He made you to be loved by Him. You are unique and ‘one of a kind’, even though you may have similarities to someone else — there is only ‘one’ of you. Just as there is One Father, One Jesus Christ, and One Holy Spirit… and we are made in their image to be a unique creation lovingly and specifically designed for and by His love.
This is why the enemy works so hard to make you think you aren’t worth anything. Because the exact opposite is true. Everyday the Lord wants to remind you how much He loves you. We are a member of a very large family, and our very soul yearns for that reunion in our heavenly home.
These all died in faith, not having received the things promised, but having seen them and greeted them from afar, and having acknowledged that they were strangers and exiles on the earth. For people who speak thus make it clear that they are seeking a homeland. If they had been thinking of that land from which they had gone out, they would have had opportunity to return. But as it is, they desire a better country, that is, a heavenly one. Therefore God is not ashamed to be called their God, for he has prepared for them a city. Hebrews 11: 13-16
I’d encourage you to contact someone today you know that has been a spiritual encouragement to you and has been praying for you, and let them know how much you love and appreciate them. Blow on that ‘flame of the gift of God’ in you.
