The Comforter.

And I will pray the Father, and He shall give you another Comforter, that He may abide with you forever; John 14:16

But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, He shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you. John 14:26

But when the Comforter is come, whom I will send unto you from the Father, even the Spirit of truth, which proceeds from the Father, He shall testify of me: John 15:26

Nevertheless I tell you the truth; It is expedient for you that I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send him unto you. John 16:7

Do you know the Comforter personally? Have you met Him during your darkest hours? Do you seek Him out when your soul is hurting? We live in a difficult world. Evil, violence, pain, betrayal, heart wrenching news, and devastating financial hardship all can take a toll on your soul. What is your go to when you try to fill that gapping hole in your soul? Drugs, alcohol, endless social media, endless and mindless screen time? Some try shopping and spending money. Some try endless exercise and or meditation. Endless work? The possibilities are all in front of you … but the enemy of your soul won’t tell you the truth, that the Comforter is available for you. In many religious circles you are given many formulas and programs for your ‘sick’ soul. But performance absent the real Comforter never totally works. Just reading the Bible won’t fix it. Because you were meant to read it WITH the Comforter, and allow Him to teach and comfort you THROUGH the Word, not from your own interpretation.

How important is this relationship with the Comforter? He really is the ONLY One who can help you with your soul. If He actually resides within you – then He knows you better than you know yourself. Obviously, He knows what’s wrong with your soul. He actually knows your sorrow and pain. He knows what you need better than you do. What’s our problem? Actually, allowing Him to help us. Do you ever give Him permission to tell you the Truth about yourself? Are you totally honest with Him? Can you admit the Truth without lying to yourself? We seemingly deceive ourselves daily. Lying to ourselves has become our coping mechanism. The best way to speak to Him is to be totally honest and transparent about what you are feeling and thinking. Does that feel dangerous to you? Who else do we have that knows us better than we know ourselves?

Does He remind you of the Truth?

Love never fails; 1 Corinthians 13:8

Oh Lord, I need you. I need to feel your Presence here with me. I need your touch. I need your love to permeate my entire being. I need your healing. Speak to me Lord. Touch me Lord. Surround me Lord. Hold me Lord. I admit I am desperate for You! My soul is in anguish, and my mind is not my friend right now. I need your words and touch. I choose You! I look for YOU!

Come Lord Jesus. I surrender.
