So teach us to number our days
that we may get a heart of wisdom. Psalm 90:12
What is a heart of wisdom? What kind of wisdom does the Spirit of God give? What does the Spirit of God make us aware of? How does considering the number of days we have left bring us to the point of being able to receive His wisdom? What is this reality? What is invisible and unknown to us that is so important to our lives? What is the knowledge and information only the Spirit of God can give us?
“Seek the Lord while he may be found;
call upon Him while He is near;
let the wicked forsake his way,
and the unrighteous man his thoughts;
let him return to the Lord, that he may have compassion on him,
and to our God, for He will abundantly pardon.
For my thoughts are not your thoughts,
neither are your ways my ways, declares the Lord.
For as the heavens are higher than the earth,
so are my ways higher than your ways
and my thoughts than your thoughts.” Isaiah 55:6-9
What can the Spirit of God teach us about the spiritual realm that surrounds us? What can He teach us about our fragile mortality in this earthly life? What really is important in the light of eternity? Ignorance is blind. In our limited knowledge we are so prideful with haughty confidence declaring we know it all. (Dunning-Kruger effect)
Who or what is the focus of your days? Have you learned what is important in God’s eyes? How many of your days have been spent on your wants and agenda? Have you asked Him for what purpose you uniquely were created for? What did the Creator design you to do … for Him? Who did He destine you to be connected to so that you could carry out His plan for you? How does suffering, lack, turmoil, and trials help us? How can comfort, ignorance, blind confidence, and excessive wealth and power hinder us? What depth of spiritual wisdom has God really imparted to you? What do you REALLY know? Is it a Rhema Word of God? What really is in your heart of hearts?
He has told you, O man, what is good;
and what does the Lord require of you
but to do justice, and to love kindness,
and to walk humbly with your God? Micah 6:8
Are you humbly setting yourself before the Holy Spirit every morning asking for His help and direction? Is the busyness of your life consuming your time rather than stopping to consider Him and His plan for you this day? Are you walking WITH Him or are you asking Him to walk with you? Which path would be the best for you… His or yours? Are you even aware of His Voice and instructions to you?
How many more days do you have left to learn these things?
Who really is the Author of your life?
