Survival

For the Gentiles eagerly seek all these things; for your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be provided to you. Matthew 6:32-33

Food. Water. Clothing. Survival. These seem to be pretty important in our lives yet… read the preceding verses to these opening verses (Matthew 6:1-31). Stop and ponder. What is our focus supposed to be upon? How many times do we have anxiety over our ‘daily survival’, or future survival? Which life are you living for? This earthly life or your ‘heavenly’ life? Which is more important? How much are we fretting over the worsening political climate in our city, county, state, country, and world? How much are we concerned over the terrible advances of the forces of evil currently globally? What is distracting you from what the Holy Spirit is trying to get you to focus on? Do you really think you can add another day to your life? What did Jesus tell them after these verses?

“So do not worry about tomorrow; for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.” Matthew 6:34

And what did Jesus immediately jump into after this advice?

“Do not judge, so that you will not be judged. For in the way you judge, you will be judged; and by your standard of measure, it will be measured to you.” Matthew 7:1

Remember when reading the scriptures Jesus didn’t tell people “chapter and verse”, so keep reading. We often when concerned about our own safety and righteousness will immediately judge someone else who is doing something different than us because we think it isn’t “prudent” in our own opinion. And we judge them for it. This is especially true within “Christian circles”. We immediately become “fruit inspectors’ without really taking the time to get to know someone or pray for them – with a heart of love – like Jesus has for them.

Anxiety controls TOO much of our lives. Our fears are major roadblocks to us actually “hearing” the voice of the Holy Spirit in our minds, and often because of those fears and anxieties we dismiss His voice as NOT being Him. Do you really care for your life more than Jesus cares for you? Think about that and honestly take a look what you actually believe. Do you trust yourself more than you trust Jesus?

Do we really need to go out and spend all of our efforts and time on building a ‘survival’ compound? If the Lord tells you to prepare – then DO exactly as He says and NOT what your ‘fear’ is telling you to do. Often times your preparation is for SOMEONE else’s benefit. Building ‘bigger barns’ to fit it all? (Luke 12:18)

Why am I writing this now? Because the world is actually getting more dangerous, and the need to be focused on Him is all the more important as the uncertainty of tomorrow is only increasing. I definitely see it … everywhere. Most can ‘feel’ it before they ‘see’ it. That’s anxiety rising within you because your soul is picking up the increased frequencies and fear surrounding you. So, I suggest we take Peter’s advice.

Humble yourselves, therefore, under the mighty hand of God so that at the proper time He may exalt you, casting all your anxieties on Him, because He cares for you. Be sober-minded; be watchful. Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour. 1 Peter 5:6-8

Are you daily or moment by moment ‘casting all your anxieties on Him’? Or are you caught in a mind-loop of fear that plays over and over in your brain? What spiritual survival techniques is the Holy Spirit teaching you? What is HE reminding you about?

Father – we give it ALL back to You. Everything. Everyone. Holy Spirit be LOUD in our minds and hearts. Jesus — we lean into YOU!
