It is the glory of God to conceal a matter; to search out a matter is the glory of kings. Proverbs 25:2
For the Lord God does nothing without revealing His secret to His servants the prophets. Amos 3:7
Does the Bible hold ALL knowledge? Does it describe ALL of the mysteries of creation? Does it explain EVERYTHING? Or… is it a ‘guide’ to introduce us to the ‘truth’ whose name is Jesus? What is its purpose? To help us ‘like toddlers’ understand the world around us and who the Maker is of it all? To introduce us to the Father and His kingdom? To help us understand what the Father has done to make a way for us to know Him? To understand how important who Jesus is and what He did for each of us? Does the Bible record everything Jesus has done, and will do?
Now there are also many other things that Jesus did. Were every one of them to be written, I suppose that the world itself could not contain the books that would be written. John 21:25
Did Jesus reveal ALL the mysteries to His disciples? Electricity? Genetics? Mathematics? Quantum physics? Interdimensional creation? The human bodily immune system? What about the complete theological understanding of God’s universe?
Like toddlers once we supposedly ‘learn’ something we inherently create a ‘box’ of understanding and now try to cram everything into that ‘box’. We certainly do that in theological terms as well. Especially with difficult ‘information’. We tend to dismiss or immediately throw it into one of our created ‘simple’ boxes so that we can ‘explain’ it away and not have to deal with it. We do this with religious doctrines and other difficult scriptures that are hard to understand, or we try to cram all received information into one of our ‘pet’ theological / doctrinal boxes.
We are SO arrogant …we think we can understand all the mysteries of God. We think we KNOW exactly what happened throughout all of history – because of our ‘interpretation’ of the scriptures we’ve read. Rather than being humble and asking the Holy Spirit for … what He wants to teach us through these mysteries and difficult scriptural passages.
As I have passed into the generation and season of the ‘king’ – white bearded elder – life, I know now I know VERY little of the Father’s mysteries. There is SO much more that I don’t know versus what I DO know. Which each ‘revelation’ the Holy Spirit brings … it reveals an even bigger knowledge of questions I don’t know. CS Lewis described this concept in the final Narnia book as going through rooms that continually and seemingly get larger with each doorway. God’s mysteries are SO much larger than we understand. But as ‘kings’ we are to attempt to search them out through the relationship with Him. This mainly happens as we humble ourselves to and before the Holy Spirit and begin asking Him questions and having the patience to wait for His answers.
Currently there are subjects that Christians immediately have their own presupposition ‘boxes’ and dismiss outright or refuse to be open to any other explanation. Aliens. Giants. Angels. Demons. Nephilim. Creation age. Doctrines (ie. Dispensationalism, Cessationism, Eschatology, Rapture theory, etc.). There is so much now that we often just ‘shut down’ and ‘throw it in one of our prepared presupposition boxes’ that we don’t want to learn anything more. Why? Pride, fear, and lust. Our root flesh nature / iniquities don’t want to humble ourselves before God … again. Right now, it seems knowledge is racing at a pace never experienced in my lifetime.
But you, Daniel, shut up the words and seal the book, until the time of the end. Many shall run to and fro, and knowledge shall increase. Daniel 12:4
So here we are. Are you open to asking God the scary questions? Do you trust Him enough to do that? Does God trust you enough to steward His secrets and mysteries? Beloved – we are headed into really weird territory far beyond what we are experiencing now. You need to learn to be trustworthy of the information the Holy Spirit wants to share with you.
Learn that God’s ways and knowledge IS far, far beyond your own simple understanding. Do you really realize that?
For My thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways My ways, declares the Lord. Isaiah 55:8
Are you able to bow your knee (your body, soul, mind, and will) humbly before Him… daily? Are you open to learn new things… from Him? Even when it doesn’t fit into one of your presuppositional boxes?
