Therefore let us leave the elementary doctrine of Christ and go on to maturity, not laying again a foundation of repentance from dead works and of faith toward God, and of instruction about washings, the laying on of hands, the resurrection of the dead, and eternal judgment. And this we will do if God permits. For it is impossible, in the case of those who have once been enlightened, who have tasted the heavenly gift, and have shared in the Holy Spirit, and have tasted the goodness of the word of God and the powers of the age to come, and then have fallen away, to restore them again to repentance, since they are crucifying once again the Son of God to their own harm and holding him up to contempt. For land that has drunk the rain that often falls on it, and produces a crop useful to those for whose sake it is cultivated, receives a blessing from God. But if it bears thorns and thistles, it is worthless and near to being cursed, and its end is to be burned. Hebrews 6:1-8
And everyone who speaks a word against the Son of Man will be forgiven, but the one who blasphemes against the Holy Spirit will not be forgiven. Luke 12:10
For whoever would save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for my sake will save it. For what does it profit a man if he gains the whole world and loses or forfeits himself? For whoever is ashamed of me and of my words, of him will the Son of Man be ashamed when he comes in his glory and the glory of the Father and of the holy angels. Luke 9:24-26
“Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. On that day many will say to me, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and cast out demons in your name, and do many mighty works in your name?’ And then will I declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from me, you workers of lawlessness.’” Matthew 7:21-23
How often do you hear sermons or teaching on these scriptures? Do your spiritual leaders address the seriousness of these passages? I’ve heard several sermons glossing over these passages — making them more palatable to the ‘listeners’. Yet …when I’m alone with Him these passages carry a heavy warning and seriousness that needs to be weighed by my soul. I know deep within me that Jesus is serious … and speaking the Truth. Is it possible to ‘walk away’ from Him once carrying the Holy Spirit within you? I think the Hebrews passage addresses this terribly frightening possibility. Daily humility and repentance before Him becomes a needed ‘check’ within in our soul and spirit. The Truth of these scriptures is stark and difficult to hold. But …God is just and loving — and must fulfill His Word. We have been given the unfathomable power of our will by God — making our choices much more eternally impactful than we can imagine. Deeper realization of this awesome power makes one shudder and the wisdom comes …and we know more and more that we need His direction in making these ‘choices’ throughout our lives. The revelation that we need the Holy Spirit to help us make these decisions that we face each day grows as we walk in greater spiritual maturity and wisdom.
Today is the time to understand the seriousness of your commitment to Him. Do your actions last week testify to your life with Him? Is He worthy enough in your own mind and heart to submit again to Him every morning?
You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. Matthew 22:37
Have you personally experienced the holiness of His Presence? If not, ask Him to show you His glory. Understand that too much of Him will kill the human body, for our current body cannot completely be in His Presence and Glory (Exodus 33). But God can show you enough of Him for you to forever realize He IS GOD. If God will do this for others — you too have the right to ask Him to reveal Himself to you in a deeper way.
So Peter opened his mouth and said: “Truly I understand that God shows no partiality, but in every nation anyone who fears him and does what is right is acceptable to him. Acts 10:34-35
As the ‘hour’ of our judgment comes ever closer, we should with all soberness and honesty come before Him daily, expressing our love and gratitude. Revelation from the Spirit of God is the ‘anchor’ to our faith. It is His speaking directly to our heart and souls in which we have our foundation of faith in Him. What has He revealed to you lately? What spiritual revelation does He have you exploring and pondering?
So faith comes from hearing, and hearing through the word of Christ. Romans 10:17
Here the word ‘word’ is the Greek word Rhema. The ‘Rhema word’ of Christ is spoken directly to your heart. It is personal and Him directly engaging you. It is this personal engagement by Him that is the foundation of your faith. It isn’t just an intellectual assent, it is a heart piercing touch by Him.
Surely his salvation is near to those who fear him, that glory may dwell in our land. Psalms 85:9
Revelation brings proper perspective and the needed right understanding of the ‘fear of the Lord’.
Ask the Holy Spirit for revelation to your heart .. today.
