Old age?

Even to (your) old age I am He,
And even to (your) advanced old age I will carry (you)!
I have made (you), and I will carry (you);
Be assured I will carry (you) and I will save (you).
Isaiah 46:4 AMP

Biblehub: Jamieson-Fausset-Brown Bible Commentary

“old age—As “your”—”you”—”you,” are not in the Hebrew, the sentiment is more general than English Version, though of course it includes the Jews from the infancy to the more advanced age of their history (Isa 47:6). I am he—that is, the same (Ps 102:27; Joh 8:24; Heb 13:8). I will bear … carry—Not only do I not need to be borne and carried Myself, as the idols (Isa 46:1).”

God IS the same. He doesn’t change. His heart does not change. This is something you need to ponder and really think about. Ask the Holy Spirit where you are negating this fact in your life. Does your ‘doctrine’ believe God never changes? Whether it be Cessationism or Calvinism or any other -ism that demands you understand God that way only. God is bigger than Man’s concepts of Him. Question: How many dimensions does God encompass? Are you certain that you understand Him completely? If so… then show me the math and how each dimension works? Astrophysicists believe there are at the very least 11 dimensions for the universe to be what we know now. What if we consider time as a dimension? How can the finite understand the infinite?

What we need to do is understand is how MUCH God cares for those who love Him, and even those who don’t. Before you even loved Him – He loved you first. Our struggle is to know the unknowable, to walk the path He has for us all the while dealing with our free will choices and human desires that pull us into selfish, prideful, and opposite directions from what God has for us.

Yet… God is there caring for us, and promises to be there for us … even into our frail old age. Getting old is scary. Why? We actually were made to be eternal – where age would not affect us and curse us into death. Enter sin, enter our Savior Jesus. With the promise of an earthsuit 2.0. So… the ‘curse of Adam’ now ravages our mortal bodies. Our way to forever sustain and renew our mortal bodies has been removed (Genesis 3:24). But we will be given a new body and be just like Jesus in a resurrected bodily state at some point in our lives (or bodily death). Our souls never to be lost or forever separated from Him. Through accepting the sacrifice Jesus made for us and acknowledging the precious blood of Jesus… our soul and spirit are forever secure in His hands. But we also will receive a new suit too. It will be able to experience earth and the new earth as well.

For as many as are the promises of God, in Christ they are [all answered] “Yes.” So through Him we say our “Amen” to the glory of God. 2 Corinthians 1:20 AMP

Wise are the older ones who have learned to ‘walk with Him’ in humility and grace. Wise are they who recognize His handiwork and love. Wise are those who have learned to submit to the Holy Spirit and have nurtured His fruit within their lives. Wise are those who seek Jesus and His kingdom. Wise are those who have given their lives to be His ambassadors and make disciples wherever they go.

Who are you going to “disciple” today? With whom will you share His love?
