Kat-is-khoo’ o / God’s strength.

“Watch out! Don’t let your hearts be dulled by carousing and drunkenness, and by the worries of this life. Don’t let that day catch you unaware, like a trap. For that day will come upon everyone living on the earth. Keep alert at all times. And pray that you might be strong enough to escape these coming horrors and stand before the Son of Man.” Luke 21:34-36

Are you strong enough to escape? Are you courageous enough to make it through the storms? Are you wise and discerning enough to see through the lies, deception, and traps set to catch you? Are you ‘drunk’ on the latest news of the day? Are you enveloped in the latest political or national scandal? Are you engrossed in following the latest revealing of corruption? Are you constantly distracted by the swirling information barraging your mind? Are you easily manipulated to believe whatever narrative is presented to you?

The Greek word used here translated as ‘strength’ is κατισχύω / katischuó / (kat-is-khoo’-o) which means to have strength, to overpower, and to prevail over all pressures and obstacles. How will we be able to have such strength? It will ONLY be through His indwelling power of the Holy Spirit within us. And that power is given to us through our surrender to Him and His will.

It is the plan of those enemies of God is to crush the followers of God in anyway possible. The powers of hell are trying to crush the human heart and especially anyone who has decided to follow Jesus. Are we asking Him to fill us with His strength? Are we acknowledging to Him our weaknesses, our shortcomings? Do we know we don’t have a chance without Him? Are you alert today? Are you working on listening to Him throughout your entire day? How else will we be able to escape the traps the enemy has set for us? How else will we be able to deal with the crisis of the day and hour? Are you walking through your day under your own power or utilizing His Presence as you commune with Him in your inner most being / heart? Is your heart fully given to Him? Are you singularly focused on Him? When the pot is boiling in your life will you know what to do?

Do you desire Him more than anything on earth? Are you asking Him for His strength that surpasses over all things and prevails over all things? Are you asking Him to fill you completely with His Presence and all-encompassing strength? Do you want strength of mind, strength of heart, and strength of will? Is God the strength of your heart? Will you ask Him for that strength? Not so you can do what you want, but what He has set you here for …in His plans for you.

Is your life terminally committed to Christ? Are you ‘all in’ to the zenith of your life to Jesus? Every hour, every minute, and every second? What do we need to escape the coming ‘horrors’? Things are easily seen to be heating up, ramping up, and speeding up, and so many people are now just running on fumes, they have become so weary of trying to keep up under their own strength.

Whose strength are you relying on?

  1. Excellent and true to form, more often than not God reveals these deeper truths and strengths over time. Over the time it takes us to grow and receive in Him. It can take time to develop strong dependency and confident hearing of His voice but He is Faithful and True
