Charlie James Kirk 1993-2025 to live is Christ and to die is gain

The announcement found approval with the whole congregation; and they chose Stephen, a man full of faith and of the Holy Spirit,

And Stephen, full of grace and power, was performing great wonders and signs among the people. But some men from what was called the Synagogue of the Freedmen, including both Cyrenians and Alexandrians, and some from Cilicia and Asia, rose up and argued with Stephen.  But they were unable to cope with his wisdom and the Spirit by whom he was speaking.  Then they secretly induced men to say, “We have heard him speak blasphemous words against Moses and God.” And they stirred up the people, the elders, and the scribes, and they came up to him and dragged him away, and brought him before the Council. They put forward false witnesses who said, “This man does not stop speaking against this holy place and the Law; for we have heard him say that this Nazarene, Jesus, will destroy this place and change the customs which Moses handed down to us.” And all who were sitting in the Council stared at him, and they saw his face, which was like the face of an angel.

Now when they heard this, they were infuriated, and they began gnashing their teeth at him. But he, being full of the Holy Spirit, looked intently into heaven and saw the glory of God, and Jesus standing at the right hand of God; and he said, “Behold, I see the heavens opened and the Son of Man standing at the right hand of God.” But they shouted with loud voices, and covered their ears and rushed at him with one mind. When they had driven him out of the city, they began stoning him; and the witnesses laid aside their cloaks at the feet of a young man named Saul. They went on stoning Stephen as he called on the Lord and said, “Lord Jesus, receive my spirit!”  Then he fell on his knees and cried out with a loud voice, “Lord, do not hold this sin against them!” Having said this, he fell asleep. Acts 6:5, 8-15, Acts 17:54-60 NASB

We just watched our generation’s Stephen be martyred and killed for his words and faith. His name was Charlie James Kirk. A man so purposed and grounded in his faith and by the young age of 31 had become one of the most influential men in our country. Charlie unabashedly preached Jesus Christ. Charlie had a very humble beginning… he didn’t start out with a big pile of cash. He wanted to speak in love and truth to those who had differing opinions than his. He lived for the discourse and dialogue. All who knew him intimately KNEW he was genuine in his faith in Jesus. He was loving, helpful, humble, whip smart, and had almost a savant type of mind being able to blend / recall history, theology, and a love for this country. Charlie retained incredible historical facts from original documents. He could quote the scriptures with seeming ease. He was a very staunch advocate for life in ALL cases. He believed in God. He felt the greatest and biggest decision of his life was to give his life to Jesus. And he took that commitment seriously. Jesus call and commission to all who followed Him was to …

“Go, therefore, and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to follow all that I commanded you; and behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.” Matthew 28:19-20

I don’t know if Charlie actually he himself baptized people BUT he certainly DID make a LOT of disciples. Charlie concentrated on the colleges in this country as his ‘mission field’. There are now thousands of chapters of Turning Point USA in the country on college campuses. Charlie actually DID love people and genuinely wanted to help them. Over and over, I heard stories of how Charlie had helped someone get their ‘start’ in a ‘purpose’ and would actually care, call, and pray for them personally. His genuine and truthful responses I’m sure had the same effect Stephen’s did on the ‘council’, as they seethed and ground their teeth, not being able to answer his rebuttals. Did Charlie win over everyone? Obviously not. But Charlie just kept going. Many warned Charlie he needed more security, and that he needed to be more careful. But he responded with that he had peace from God to do what he had to do. So, Charlie kept going. Till the enemies of God cut him down just like they dragged Stephen out and stoned / killed Him. Charlie took a bullet that took his life. Now he too like Stephen is with Jesus. And we too, those who Jesus knows (Matthew 25), will soon be with them.

Many now are making up false stories of Charlie, just as those that hated Stephen and garnered ‘false witnesses’. Many are celebrating the death of Charlie, just like Saul. Who took up the mantle to snuff out all those like Stephen (those part of The Way) – all in the “name of God”. Well, we know what happened to Saul on the road to Damascus. (Acts 9).

This my hearts prayer… that Jesus would meet SO many of these who hated Charlie and people like us – on their ‘Damascus’ road, and let them know like He did Saul who they are really persecuting. Jesus can do that. I’d love to see many Paul’s birthed from the seed of Charlie’s blood.

Can we pick up the torch and be bold and courageous in our life and faith in Jesus Christ? Will we speak the truth about Jesus with personal and clear undeniable life testimony filled with experiences?

Pray for Charlie’s wife Erika and their young daughter and son.

What is the Holy Spirit speaking to you about now? Will you obey Him?

  1. …at first I was so surprised at how Charlie’s assimilation affected me. I was consumed by it and fixed my time on searching for every new article. I was crying at the very thought. Crying for his wife and children. Searching for news articles. More crying.

And then I began to understand. I know the exhilaration he experienced at being used by the Holy Spirit to share the Truth of The Gospel. I know the sense of the enemy’s presence during Evangelism Outreaches. And I know the total exhaustion after having been used by the Holy Spirit and the sweet sleep that follows. Rest In Sweet Peace Brother Charlie.
