The Anointing!

Children, it is the last hour; and just as you heard that antichrist is coming, even now many antichrists have appeared; from this we know that it is the last hour. They went out from us, but they were not really of us; for if they had been of us, they would have remained with us; but they went out, so that it would be evident that they all are not of us. But you have an anointing from the Holy One, and you all know. I have not written to you because you do not know the truth, but because you do know it, and because no lie is of the truth. Who is the liar except the one who denies that Jesus is the Christ? This is the antichrist, the one who denies the Father and the Son. Whoever denies the Son does not have the Father; the one who confesses the Son has the Father also. As for you, see that what you heard from the beginning remains in you. If what you heard from the beginning remains in you, you also will remain in the Son and in the Father.

This is the promise which He Himself made to us: eternal life.

These things I have written to you concerning those who are trying to deceive you. And as for you, the anointing which you received from Him remains in you, and you have no need for anyone to teach you; but as His anointing teaches you about all things, and is true and is not a lie, and just as it has taught you, you remain in Him. 1 John 2:18-27

What is the ‘anointing’? In the OT priest days the anointing was physically represented by a special oil. Spiritually it was the very Presence of the Holy Spirit. At Pentecost that anointing came to the Jesus followers as tongues of fire! The indwelling Presence of the Holy Spirit IS the ‘anointing’!

The Holy Spirit IS supposed to be your FIRST Teacher in ALL things! As we press further into this ‘last hour’, and just a few minutes remain, can we learn to listen to Him? Have you learned how to converse with Him yet? This is what most American churches lack – discipling people in the relationship with the Holy Spirit. It seems ‘programed services’, and big buildings, and large budgets are currently more prioritized. We need to help people recognize the Holy Spirit in their lives! And teach them how to discern Him within them. With the time ticking down and the intensity rising what is most crucial for a Christian? An ability to hear Him clearly! An ability to receive daily instruction and direction directly from the Holy Spirit Himself! It literally is ‘tapping’ into the anointing – throughout your day. It is following His advice with choices and opportunities that are right in front of you.

What are you actively doing daily to grow your relationship with the Holy Spirit? How are setting yourself positionally to be more attentive to Him … daily? What are you going to need the most in the midst of a great crisis that you are thrust into? As things spiral in a downward fashion in so many areas globally, and locally, and personally – what is His advice to you? It is probably the most difficult to hear Him when we are in ‘reaction’ mode – rather than in His peace. How do we maintain His peace within us throughout our day? What is He telling you to do? Have you asked Him yet? These questions always make me stop. Ponder. And put my focus back onto Him. I ask Him to help me listen to Him, to calm my soul and mind. I SO need His Presence to be greater in me. I ask Him what in me is hindering this process. He is quick to answer these types of questions. Are you ready to be humbled?

Come Lord Jesus! Fill this space, this time. Spirit… I open my heart to YOU! YOU are welcome here! Right now … Holy Spirit YOU are my strength, and heartbeat and breath. OH Lord Jesus …I need YOU! Holy Spirit … teach me, fill me, change me to be more like Jesus!
