And he said, “Go your way, Daniel, for these words will be kept secret and sealed up until the end time. Many will be purged, cleansed, and refined, but the wicked will act wickedly; and none of the wicked will understand, but those who have insight will understand. Daniel 12:9-10
Daniel chapter 12 is a lot like other prophetic scripture. Difficult to understand, and difficult to process. Can it really be understood without the Holy Spirit? Many men have tried. There are many books utilizing the numbers that come after these verses. Are they right? I don’t think anyone can really know until it all unfolds in real time. What IS interesting to me – is the message given to Daniel about what he is to do. The first instruction comes in verse 4 where he is told to ‘seal up the book’. How Daniel actually did that? I’m not sure what Daniel actually did. When Daniel heard the words in the vision – he even didn’t know what they meant and actually asked what the outcome would be. Again, Daniel is told to keep these words secret and ‘sealed up until the end time’.
I understand that Daniel saw and heard things in that ‘vision’ that he would NEVER understand, but he was told ‘go his way’ and do as he was told. I think the message here for me is that I just need to keep seeking His plan and steps every day. It isn’t about having the ‘secret’ information that makes us ‘special’, it is our faithfulness to Him in all the little things every day. Certainly, prophecy seems to be popping up and off everywhere these days. The general feeling is that the ‘end days’ sure seem to be now, but are they? I think the instruction is still the same. “Go your way and do as you are told.” Sounds much like an adult to a child, when the child hears things beyond what they can understand at the time and age they are. It’s okay to be a ‘child’ in His Presence, in fact Jesus highlights that characteristic.
And He called a child to Himself and set him among them, and said, “Truly I say to you, unless you change and become like children, you will not enter the kingdom of heaven. So whoever will humble himself like this child, he is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven. Matthew 18:2-4
Can I be like a little child and actually just do as I am told… gladly without complaint? Can I be found doing what I was told to do? What has the Holy Spirit asked you to do? Have you ever asked Him? Are you actually listening for His instruction? Or are you too busy, on your own ‘playground’, just doing whatever you want to do?
If you are suddenly privy to ‘heavenly’ information – are you seeking Him for understanding, AND what you should do about it? Certainly, DO whatever He tells you to do. But also keep doing and being who HE created you to be and to do. Listen closely to the still small voice of the Holy Spirit and obey quickly. Ask Him questions IF you don’t understand. Get clarification if you are uncertain of your next steps.
Let’s be found doing what He has asked us to do.
Father … YOU are the One that holds ALL the keys to the future. Jesus … thank YOU for taking the keys to this world back. Holy Spirit show me what to do with the key(s) YOU have given me.
