I mean that the heir, as long as he is a child, is no different from a slave, though he is the owner of everything, but he is under guardians and managers until the date set by his father. In the same way we also, when we were children, were enslaved to the elementary principles of the world. But when the fullness of time had come, God sent forth his Son, born of woman, born under the law, to redeem those who were under the law, so that we might receive adoption as sons. And because you are sons, God has sent the Spirit of his Son into our hearts, crying, “Abba! Father!” So you are no longer a slave, but a son, and if a son, then an heir through God. Galatians 4:1-7
So …which are you? A child still unable to manage yourself or a mature heir in Christ filled by His Spirit who is teaching you intimacy with your heavenly Father? We NEED to grow into our real spiritual identity. We need to understand deeply who we used to think we were, and who He says we actually are. Don’t you think our Creator knows our purpose better than we do? How many conversations have you had with the Holy Spirit about your own identity and purpose? Have you ever asked Him directly? Have you ever stopped to listen to Him?
What does the Holy Spirit cry out for in your own heart? What is it that He made you for? What is He wanting to grow within you? What is He planting within you? What is He working through you? Can you recognize those things? Is it ALL about you or is there another purpose? Does He want you to become a ‘vessel’ and light filled with Him for others to be blessed from?
Our culture has become progressively … selfish, bitter, mocking, envious, and plain … evil, in so many ways. We’ve lost the basic foundation of the Gospel. Where are faith, hope, and love? Where are your heartfelt prayers for our fellow human beings? Or is it easier just to condemn people to separation from God? When is the last time you genuinely prayed for the leadership in your city, county, state, and federal Government? Or are you only just focused on yourself … like a young child? What actually changes things? Laws? Politicians? What can actually move upon the hearts of people to turn them to their Creator and Savior? Or are you just caught up in listening to the latest ‘narrative’ spun from all the other voices?
The enemies of God always want to play the ‘legal’ game. The enemies of God are the most passionate about being legalistic instead of staying in the heart of God. Let this NOT be you. Focus on always finding God’s heart on a matter by fueling that relationship and conversation with the Holy Spirit. HE is supposed to be your Guide to ALL Truth … before ALL other sources. Look in the mirror. Who are you really? Who does He say you are? Who actually is leading you? What is the fruit your life is producing today? Is it coming from the Vine or something else? Are you self-aware? What is the Holy Spirit really telling you? Can you discern it?
