So then, be careful how you walk, not as unwise people but as wise, making the most of your time, because the days are evil. Therefore do not be foolish, but understand what the will of the Lord is. Ephesians 5:15-17
Anyone feel like the time and days are getting weirder and more dangerous? Yet the light of Christ is beginning to shine brighter and brighter and the message of the Gospel is being highlighted over and over. We are living in some very strange, dangerous, and exciting times. Are our days becoming even more evil?
I think we should take the above advice with some thought and prayer asking the Holy Spirit how this applies directly to us personally… today. What does it mean to walk ‘wisely’? What does He mean to ‘make the most of our time’? How can we know the ‘will of the Lord’ in all the choices and decisions we make each and every day?
All of this can only be accomplished by an ongoing continual communion with the Holy Spirit. This means staying in a mode where you are constantly focused on listening to anything and everything the Holy Spirit has to say to you. This actually is a mode of constant prayer communication with Him.
With every prayer and request, pray at all times in the Spirit, and with this in view, be alert with all perseverance and every request for all the saints, Ephesians 6:18
This is a good reminder to stay in prayer mode more – throughout our day. How else will we know His will for us? Doing what we think? How often does what you think align with His ways and thoughts? Can you recognize His voice? Have you learned when He is speaking to you? Are you so busy doing the mundane routine of your day – that you set Him aside most of your day? Or do you have the mindset of walking WITH Him and listening to Him and what He thinks and sees?
As these days continue to speed up and become increasingly crazy – don’t you think we should begin to walk through our days WITH Him? “Making the most of your time.” How are you being ‘foolish’?
The Greek word for foolish here is ἄφρων, aphrón, (af’-rone).
Biblehub: Strong’s Greek 878, ἄφρων (aphrōn), identifies the person who, through moral or spiritual dullness, acts without regard for God’s revealed wisdom. In Scripture the term consistently contrasts self-reliant human reasoning with the fear of the Lord, revealing that true understanding is inseparable from humble submission to divine truth.
Being ‘foolish’ could definitely mean being filled with our ‘pride’, thinking we ‘know’ what the Lord requires of us in the moment. Do you have an attitude of submission, surrender, and prayer before Him throughout your day? Do you remain in an attitude of ‘listening’ for His words and direction? Is your main motivation throughout your day driven by faith or self-advancement? Is the Holy Spirit’s ‘revealed wisdom’ coming to your mind? Is He revealing understanding to your mind and heart about certain scriptures as you walk through your day?
Lord Jesus, open my ears to hear YOU! I give everyone and everything to YOU! Help me to recognize your voice and direction for me today. Help me be Your ambassador today to everyone I meet.

I asked the Lord to show me where i may be dull and lacking discipline
I’ve asked if there are other areas of discipline that I need to master that I am unaware of
I also asked why am I lacking the anointing I so desperately need to minister and find that the two subjects are inseparable
