The Supernatural

Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will not pass away. Matthew 24:35

How do you interpret what Jesus said here? Can you explain the totality of it? Spiritual understanding is not ‘natural’ / earthly. If you try to understand the spiritual truths with your natural senses of the mind and body you will will be completely baffled and confused. The spiritual realm is actually more real than the one we are living in. But without spiritual revelation you will disagree with the last statement. The heavenly kingdom seems so idealistic or imaginary, so ethereal, so unreal. To our ‘natural’ man our understanding of the spiritual is intrinsically  and essentially unreal. I have often heard others say, “Oh.. let us be practical, let us come down to earth, let’s get our heads out of the clouds, let’s get down to the things that are more real.” Or, “You need to stop being so heavenly minded so you can be some earthly good.” This is the usual reaction of the natural man to the spiritual. But to the spiritual person, spiritual things are far more tangible.

Serious mathematicians now understand that our universe is much more mysterious than previously thought. For the current things to exist there must be at least 10 dimensions. Our natural senses say that there are four dimensions (length, width, height, and time). Yet …there are ‘forces’ out there we can’t explain yet. The higher spiritual realm(s) DO exist. Do you ever allow yourself to ‘think outside the box’? Here’s the question that I’ve pondered for awhile … did the fall of Adam and Eve cut off their ability to experience and move in the extra dimensions, and doom them to a corporeal death? Then I also wonder if our baptism into the Holy Spirit begins to ‘open’ us to higher spiritual experiences and dimensions.

We were made in His Image. That Image is mysterious. He is One. But He is also Three. Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. We also are a spirit, soul, and body. Though the body will decay and pass away our spirit and soul are not subject to the same earthly decay. There is more than we can know via our natural senses if we are indwelled by His Holy Spirit. This is why the ‘resurrection’ of Jesus and His promise to us to resurrect our bodies is so important and significant.

Spiritual wisdom is much more valuable than earthly wisdom. How does one attain spiritual wisdom? By now if you’re a regular reader of this devotional … you know the foundational answer.

Do you ever ask the Holy Spirit the ‘bigger’ questions? What exists beyond what we currently know? What exactly is .. love? Why did you create me? What is my purpose? What and where is the spiritual realm? What are the angels? How many species of angels exist? What exists in the ‘rebellion’ portion of the spiritual realms? Do angels have their own ‘technology’? Do rebellious fallen angels also have spiritual realm technology? How do we know when we are being affected by the higher dimensions? What effect do those dimensions have on us?

There certainly are fascinating scriptures that hint at answers to some of those questions. I ponder the wild things talked about by Elijah, and Elisha, and Ezekiel in the Old Testament scriptures. I think of the experience of Peter, James, and John had with Jesus on a high mountain (Matthew 17) when they experienced the transfiguration and saw Jesus standing with Moses and Elijah, shining like the sun. These were definitely ‘higher’ dimensional experiences. It’s what we now define as ‘supernatural’.

Are you open to the Holy Spirit giving you supernatural experiences and wisdom? Have you asked Him to open your spiritual understanding? Are you ready to have your expectations and what you know of your certain reality …demolished?

This is the life lived with the Holy Spirit.
