The nervous system spreads throughout the entirety of the body. What happens when nerves don’t function correctly in certain places within the body? What damage ensues? In the spiritual realm the Holy Spirit IS the nervous system within the Body of Christ. He also is the power / electrical conduit that fires the muscles of the Body of Christ. When the Holy Spirit is denied / negated / dismissed within the Body of Christ, the Body suffers greatly.
Most institutional religious teachers talk very little about the Holy Spirit and His working within the Body. They especially don’t explain His gifts or fruit or how He works those in and through those who have invited Him into their lives. Why? Because they’ve been indoctrinated / taught by the academic types (seminaries) who have almost zero experience with the Holy Spirit themselves. Academic schools are focused on the intellectual instead of the spiritual, even in the so-called “Christian” institutions.
Yet how far is our current earthly knowledge in comparison to the spiritual realm? How far does our knowledge go in comparison to the Creator’s knowledge? Our hubris and pride do us in every time. Unless the Holy Spirit brings us revelation — what do we actually know? So many stand on shifting foundations. Are you acquainted with the power of the Holy Spirit … personally? Has He moved through you with His power and revelation? If that has happened, was your mind immediately fighting that experience with all sorts of negative thoughts and arguments? Did those thoughts give you all sorts of reasons to dismiss what just happened? Have you been indoctrinated to dismiss His life within you? Where are those thoughts actually coming from? What is the source of those thoughts?
If any of you have experienced His power and seen actual undeniable evidence of His supernatural touch / wisdom … then you have become a conundrum to the academic Christian institutions. All sorts of things begin to happen to deny that experience and dismiss, and belittle those instances. They need to be separated from the ‘common’ Christian life and called ‘special instances’ or mysterious miracles by the ‘learned leaders’. When in fact, those kinds of experiences should be part of the daily life of a disciple of Jesus. Yes, even today.
We need to invite the Holy Spirit to flow through us and empower us for His divine appointments He has set up for us each day. Special knowledge (Word of wisdom, Word of Knowledge, Discerning of Spirits, Prophecy, tongues, interpretation of tongues) and Divine power (Miracles, healing, faith) flowing from Him through you actually should be your daily experience.
Now there are varieties of gifts, but the same Spirit; and there are varieties of service, but the same Lord; and there are varieties of activities, but it is the same God who empowers them all in everyone. To each is given the manifestation of the Spirit for the common good. For to one is given through the Spirit the utterance of wisdom, and to another the utterance of knowledge according to the same Spirit, to another faith by the same Spirit, to another gifts of healing by the one Spirit, to another the working of miracles, to another prophecy, to another the ability to distinguish between spirits, to another various kinds of tongues, to another the interpretation of tongues. All these are empowered by one and the same Spirit, who apportions to each one individually as he wills. 1 Corinthians 12:4-11
Read that last sentence again. He is the ONE who empowers ALL these things … in and through us. He has not left the earth or the Church because we now have a ‘printed book’. He has not stopped flowing through people. He has not stopped doing miracles and healing people. He has not stopped revealing Jesus Christ to people through visions and dreams. He has not stopped teaching the ‘living and breathing’ Word to His members of Christ’s Body. He has not stopped…
This is a relationship with Him NOT a set of formulas or rituals or ‘special incantations’ (Prayers) that you have to say. A REAL relationship, intimate, deep, and all encompassing. A relationship that empowers you with God’s (infused) LIFE! A relationship that BRINGS you wisdom and understanding. He is the COMPANION! Always with you.
