The spiritual battlefield: Your mind and will.

So letting your sinful nature control your mind leads to death. But letting the Spirit control your mind leads to life and peace. Romans 8:6 NLT

Are you seeking God in your mental life? Have you learned to listen to the Holy Spirit in your mind? Are you in agreement with the Holy Spirit in your mind? Life and peace – do they describe your mind and thoughts? Have you considered consecrating your mind to Jesus Christ, so that your union with Him and your mind can be under His protection and provision? Consecrating means to give it ALL to Christ – as His, for His use. Think of and remember the ‘helmet of salvation’ mentioned in Ephesians 6 that is part of your spiritual armor. Do you allow random thoughts to pass through and take hold of your mind? Do you believe every thought in your mind?

We destroy arguments and every lofty opinion raised against the knowledge of God, and take every thought captive to obey Christ, 2 Corinthians 10:5

Do you want your mind to be under the complete fulness of the Spirit of God, governed by the Holy Spirit?

Consecrating prayer: Father, Jesus, Holy Spirit I consecrate my mind to you. All of my mental life. I give you my thoughts, my focus, and attention. I give you my memory, recall, my understanding and imagination. Lord Jesus, I look to you for the interpretation of all the events of my life. I place the helmet of salvation on my mind and dedicate my complete mind to you Lord Jesus, and to you alone.

Do you want God to give you mental resilience? Do you want a strong mind? Giving Jesus full access and dedicating your mind to Him allows His strength to fortify your mind. He teaches us and reminds us to think on what He wants us to dwell upon.

Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things. Philippians 4:8

One must come into a deeper and more complete understanding of this most foundational truth, that “Christ lives in you” (Colossians 1:27) Have you given your life to Him? Then this IS the Truth. The Holy Spirit then is able to remind you of everything Jesus has told you. (John 14:26) This is the secret to a life filled with peace and all the fruit of the Spirit.

When the enemies of God come to harass and oppress you – it usually begins in your mind with thoughts that are obviously not from the Holy Spirit. Can you discern those thoughts? Bring them to the Holy Spirit and allow His light to show you the truth. Will you agree with the Holy Spirit in your mind and choose His path for you in that moment?

Winning the battle of temptation begins in your mind. Slowing down and testing those thoughts with the Holy Spirit. Asking Him what He wants you to do.

When so much mental illness now pervades the humanity around you – you can have a clear and concise peaceful mind – with the Holy Spirit guiding you in your mind. This is essential for being His ambassador and messenger to a hurting world around you.

Be led and guided by the Spirit of God.
