The secret of the Lord is for those who fear Him, And He will make them know His covenant. My eyes are continually toward the Lord, For He will rescue my feet from the net. Psalm 25:14-15 NASB
How will He make us “know” His covenant? How does that impartation happen? Who is this Teacher of this ‘Heavenly Kingdom’ covenant? If Jesus were here in person / in the flesh, we can be certain it WOULD be Him! But in His bodily absence who did He ask His Father to give to us to help us? (Hint: John chapter 14: 16-31) To me it seemed that Jesus was almost ‘giddy’ about leaving and the Holy Spirit’s coming. But who wouldn’t trade almost anything to have a chance to sit for an hour in His physical Presence and learn what Jesus would tell us, as well as to be free to ask Him any and all questions? But yet… that’s what Jesus wants US to do with the Holy Spirit … daily. Have you learned how to have those ‘times’ with the Holy Spirit? Have you learned how to listen to His (still small) Voice within you? Can you recognize Him quickly in your thoughts and soul? This is the daily discipline and practice of the walk with Him. This is the ultimate intimacy Jesus wants us to have… deep communion with His Holy Spirit.
If you have begun that ‘communion’ with Him – then the Holy Spirit will lead you deep into His Word and begin to share with you His mysteries and love through them and how they relate to you … every day. You will begin to love His Word as it will actually ‘come alive’ in so many ways within your life. He will then remind you of scripture when you need it the most … in that moment. How do we avoid being caught up in the “net” or the snare of the enemy? By keeping that intimacy with the Holy Spirit throughout our day. Keep Him close. Stay listening for His direction and promptings. Listen to His words of love towards you. Trust Him.
How do we grow in love? By allowing His love to permeate us deeper and deeper. How do we do that? Ask Him. Surrender to Him. Submit to Him. Do what He asks you to do. How do we love our spouse and family better? Through Him and His love. Ask Him how He sees them. Ask Him how He loves them. He does it SO much better than we can. We need Him and His Holy Spirit to be our Source.
I am the vine, you are the branches; the one who remains in Me, and I in him bears much fruit, for apart from Me you can do nothing. John 15:5
How can I learn to love my spouse / wife better? Through Him. Listening to Him. He actually loves them more than you do. And He actually does it better than you. You can learn ‘how’ from Him. It easy to say, read, and understand the instruction, but the reality of walking that out will take His strength and wisdom and love. It will take listening to His counsel to you in your inner most being / heart.
Learn to pray to Him from that place. Get totally honest with Him. Don’t deceive yourself, He already knows. So …admit the Truth about yourself – that He is showing you. Learn how to love and forgive THROUGH Him.
We love, because He first loved us. 1 John 4:19
Be kind to one another, compassionate, forgiving each other, just as God in Christ also has forgiven you. Ephesians 4 :32
