And He who searches hearts knows what is the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for the saints according to the will of God. And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to His purpose. For those whom He foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son, in order that He might be the firstborn among many brothers. Romans 8:27-29
Definitely one of the more mysterious and difficult scriptures to understand. This scripture definitely points to a dimensionality that we don’t quite understand or can even comprehend yet. It seems that the omnipotent and omniscience of God of this scripture (predestination) supersedes free will and makes it null and void. Yet to dismiss free will would make good and evil null and void. So obviously there is something here beyond our current math. Why am I pondering this?
My walk this morning was my alone time to speak to the Father and pray, discuss, and ponder. A thought entered my mind of how much the Father loves us in that He will make a way where there seems to be no way for those who choose to walk with Him. In the heart and love from the Father is to move universal fractal math (past, present, and future) and paths that EVERYTHING (all things) would work for the benefit of those who have chosen (called according to His purpose) Him. I was trying to express my love for Him — and was struggling to find the words what truly was in my heart and yet I realized that it was a noble effort that we should wrestle with on a daily basis. God’s heart yearns for this love relationship with us — it could possibly be described in human terms as a ‘need’, yet because of God being totally self sufficient — the word “need” doesn’t quite encapsulate the fullness of the purposes in God’s heart. Yet God has emotions that express — a ‘broken heart’ which would possibly express a ‘need’ not being fulfilled. All of this is obviously beyond me in understanding. Yet …God wants to ‘explore’ together our relationship. God / the Spirit ‘intercedes’ for us — according to His will — from that place of omniscience. What that exactly means?? What I get out of that is … that His love for us is so great He is making a ‘way’ for us — because He wants us to be in fellowship and love with Him. I’m sure I’m barely scratching the surface here.
Deep and heady stuff was rushing through my brain as I walked the fields this morning concerning the heart of the Father. It was humbling to experience a grander glimpse of His heart — instantly knowing that there is SO much more I don’t know. Shouldn’t this life be in pursuit of this relationship with God? Should we even seek these deeper conversations with the Spirit, and wrestle with the infiniteness of God? Jacob wrestled, then God changed his name. All of this wrestling this morning made me slightly more aware of God’s heart that I hadn’t seen, and MUCH more aware of how little I do understand Him. This is the paradoxical path of walking with the Spirit of God.
What are you wrestling with? Have you asked the Spirit about it? What is He revealing to you about the situation(s) you are currently in, and what and how He wants you to navigate them? This is the way.
