Our biases and preconceptions. Are you ever wrong?

“For My thoughts are not your thoughts,
Nor are your ways My ways,” declares the Lord.
“For as the heavens are higher than the earth,
So are My ways higher than your ways
And My thoughts than your thoughts.
Isaiah 55:7-9

Yet they seek Me day by day and delight to know My ways, As a nation that has done righteousness And has not forsaken the ordinance of their God. They ask Me for just decisions, They delight in the nearness of God. Isaiah 58:2

What is your immediate reaction when you are told you are wrong? What do you do when you realize you might be wrong? What happens when real facts are presented that prove what you have always believed is wrong? How do you respond? Do you lash out emotionally? Do you immediately become offended? Do you pout and run into your ‘room’?

Have you learned to pause … and surrender to the Holy Spirit and ask Him to help you understand where you are wrong and how to now navigate this possible new perspective and Truth? Can you surrender your ‘pet belief’s’ and perspectives to Christ? Can you agree to disagree while you seek out His understanding? Do you have enough of a relationship with the Holy Spirit and learned to accept enough of God’s love into your being that you are able to forgive yourself and learn something new? Do you have enough of God’s love in you to forgive others? What do you do when you realize you need God’s forgiveness? Do you actually receive it? Do you understand to receive God’s forgiveness you must also forgive others? These are things that take continual growth and maturity. If you remain stagnant in your understanding, your soul, and intellectual growth will stop. You will stop listening to the Holy Spirit. You will begin to dismiss His ministry within your life. You will become immune to His small whisper within you. Do you understand all the mysteries of God? Read Job chapters 40-41. We are very finite and He is infinite. We only know ‘in part’, His is omniscient (all knowing).

We must adapt ourselves to have a humble attitude and a surrendered life IN Christ, all the while asking and listening to the Holy Spirit and His correction given to us. We must be willing to forgive and be compassionate – like He is. Especially with our own family, and then with EVERYONE else. Jesus asked us to love our enemies and pray for those that persecute us. (Matthew 5:44 -That’s a TALL order!)

Lord – I come to You today with a humble heart. Show me where I am wrong. Teach me Your ways. I surrender Lord to Your ways. Show me who I need to forgive, so that I might be able to receive even more of the Father’s love into my being. I need Your love Father in greater amounts. Holy Spirit I surrender to Your conviction and guidance. Teach me what I need to do and say and hear. Show me Holy Spirit how I need to repent and what I need to change in my ‘views’ and beliefs, to become more like Jesus.

  1. I’m always growing and learning how to let go of me and be more like Him. It’s so hard but I continue because the reward is so great💜
