Yet when I am among mature believers, I do speak with words of wisdom, but not the kind of wisdom that belongs to this world or to the rulers of this world, who are soon forgotten. No, the wisdom we speak of is the mystery of God—his plan that was previously hidden, even though he made it for our ultimate glory before the world began. But the rulers of this world have not understood it; if they had, they would not have crucified our glorious Lord. That is what the Scriptures mean when they say,
“No eye has seen, no ear has heard,
and no mind has imagined
what God has prepared
for those who love him.” 1 Corinthians 2:6-9
God has a great purpose for His chosen (those who accept His invite through Christ) with an eternal calling by His great redemption. It is a very great purpose indeed that is greater than most Christians have realized. I don’t think I’m exaggerating as most American Christians have gotten little further than to know they are ‘saved’. And very few know that they are currently in God’s great purpose for eternity. “Called according to His purpose” (Romans 8:28) It is not me to say what that purpose is for each individual but it is enough …to state that it is a fact. We are called to a VERY great purpose far more than to just get out of Egypt or the snares of the enemy, but into a relationship, a VERY great relationship in an infinite fullness with His Son Jesus Christ, which also is an eternal vocation. How many Christians are really ‘in it’, know that they are ‘in it’, and are actually tasting the meaning of it: that this life is an inexhaustible Life, that there will be new vistas … forever!!
Through Christ the heavens are OPEN! And He leads those who are walking with Him into seeing more and more of that which we are called. It means so much more than just to be ‘saved’, get to heaven, have our sins forgiven, and to receive certain blessings which comes with His salvation. There lies before us the eternal ages with such a purpose with God — and Him calling us to join Him in His work… that “no eye has seen, no ear has heard” that which He has prepared for those that love Him. It boggles my mind.
It excites the heart, soul, and mind to think on that glorious eternal adventure we’ve been invited to step into and onto the path with Him. What awaits everyone who accepts His beckoning to walk with Him is beyond our imaginations …and it will be filled with love and excitement unending.
