In An Instant…

…we shall all be changed— in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye…
(1 Cor 15)

Is this place our real home? Is this the place we’ve been created for?

For those who say such things declare plainly that they seek a homeland. And truly if they had called to mind that country from which they had come out, they would have had opportunity to return. But now they desire a better, that is, a heavenly country. Therefore God is not ashamed to be called their God, for He has prepared a city for them.
(Hebrews 11)

This morning I walked by the street where last week a son shot and killed both of his parents. Everyday now it seems I hear of another person’s life ending.

I thought to myself all that I’ve stored up here, house, money, things … all the things I work daily to maintain and grow … all gone in an instant.

Do any of us know when our individual race will be done?

So teach us to number our days, That we may gain a heart of wisdom.
(Psalm 90)

What can we take with us to … eternity, to His country?

Kingdom relationships. That’s about it.

What then really counts? What is truly important in this life?

This world is full of distractions, pursuits, and pleasures. We’ve all been given free will by God. We get to … choose what we do with our lives and … how we spend it.

We’re told by “spiritual leaders” to give to their ‘church’, mission, building campaign, … next big ‘vision’, … and God will reward us in heaven … if we do so.

Do you think that’s true? That they speak for God on how He wants you personally to steward His money? When did they become the Holy Spirit for you?

I think the ONLY eternal rewards we will receive are the times we were obedient to the Rhema Word spoken to our hearts by the Holy Spirit Himself. This then means we have to … actually learn to hear Him, listen to Him, and then (gulp) … actually take the steps to obey Him.

Oh Father …speak to me today. Help me hear You. Give me the strength to step out in obedience… to Your instructions to me today. Help me Jesus not to hold on so tightly to things here. Teach me your generosity Holy Spirit. You are the Source of my breath, heartbeat, and life.
