In My Father’s house are many dwelling places. If it were not so, I would have told you. I am going to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself, that where I am, you may be also. John 14:2-3
What does Father, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit have in store for us?
Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly beyond all that we ask or imagine, according to the power that works in us, to Him be the glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, forever and ever. Amen. Ephesians 3:20-21
I can imagine really well. God has gifted me in that department, but I still know this verse is true, and it excites me. Yesterday as my wife and I explored some beautiful country with rolling green hills, still ponds, and running creeks, and then ocean vistas, with rugged bluffs and sandy beaches it was so incredibly awe inspiring and soul filling, and yet I immediately had a thought that God has even MORE for us in His Kingdom. Jesus the Master creator is actually ‘preparing’ a place for EACH of us!?! I’ve been blessed to see some really wonderful places, and buildings, and structures. I’ve walked and hiked in some really incredible parks, like Yosemite, Kings Canyon, Sequoia, Yellowstone, and others where the natural beauty and wonders are astounding, but I still know Heaven will be even still greater.
Are you stuck holding on to this world? Some might tell me, “This is all we have!” And I would answer, “Not if you are a citizen of heaven.” Jesus even tells us to ‘invest’ in Heaven.
“Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal. But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroy and where thieves do not break in nor steal, for where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.” Matthew 6:19-21
Heaven is a REAL place. A place filled with life astounding. A place of incredible beauty. A place of joy and peace and love. Things we strive for here … are just flowing with ease … in heaven. His power and heart are on display there in every direction. No matter how much I am astounded at His creation here – I know Heaven is far beyond what I can imagine. This is what awaits us, which Jesus wants to share with us.
So don’t try to hold onto things here in this shadowland, when the ‘real’ is just around the corner. Don’t be concerned when Jesus asks you to ‘give’ beyond what you think you can. Don’t be concerned when you lose things… for if you are His then you have an eternal dwelling place that has been prepared by the One who actually created you and knows you better than you know yourself.
Trust Him. Believe Him. Focus on Him. Know His promises are REAL. Hold on to the relationships He has given you, those are the important things.
