Wealth and debt.

Wealth obtained by fraud dwindles,
But he who gathers gradually by [honest] labor will increase [his riches].
Hope deferred makes the heart sick,
But when desire is fulfilled, it is a tree of life.
Whoever despises the word and counsel [of God] brings destruction upon himself,
But he who [reverently] fears and respects the commandment [of God] will be rewarded.
Proverbs 13:11-13 AMP

Are you seeking God’s heart or are you looking for legal angles to get what you want? What is your preferred method of gaining income? Getting it without any work? Having someone else give it to you? Taking it from someone else? Where do you seek your wealth? Do you ever look at the ultimate source of that money? If wealth is gained without effort – what is the effect on the human soul? Is money your goal? Do you think money is the answer to all your problems? Whom are you ultimately trying to serve? Yourself or God?

No one can serve two masters, for either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and money. Matthew 6:24

Do you actually trust God as your Source of income? What exactly does that entail? Being able to hear His instructions to you personally, daily, moment by moment? So… it isn’t a ‘formula’ or an ‘equation’ or a required ritual? If you gain lots of wealth and see it as your ‘own’… to do as you want with it – how will that effect your relationship with God?

Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. So glorify God in your body. 1 Corinthians 6:19-20

What was the ‘price’ for your purchase? Who purchased you? Is that person now your Owner and Master? Do you recognize Him that way? Does He now own EVERYTHING you have? Do you check with Him every time …on how you spend HIS money with each purchase decision? Do you have that close intimate type of relationship with Him?

How we view and use money is a direct reflection of our life and what we value. Does your Owner want you to entangle your life with worldly lenders and sellers who shackle you with debt at every turn? Who exactly are you serving when you are so ensnared with debt?

The rich rules over the poor,
and the borrower is the slave of the lender. Proverbs 22:7

Are you trying to serve two masters? What does your debt do to your service? How many lenders are you currently trying to serve? How many sets of shackles are you currently wearing? If Jesus were to ask you to go and serve Him in another country or land … could you do it? Or are you currently too shackled and ensnared by debt to go because of financial obligations you owe to someone else? Who then really is your …Master?

Father … you are the Owner and Creator of the entire universe! Jesus you ARE my Master and Owner for You bought me with Your blood! Jesus you paid my debt of sin! Holy Spirit … speak to me as to how to utilize YOUR money the way YOU want me to.
