Great faith.

Faith shows the reality of what we hope for; it is the evidence of things we cannot see. Hebrews 11:1

How is it we think reality is only what we encounter with our five limited physical senses? How is it that we demand God fit into our expectations of Him? How is it that we think we understand the depth of creation? We still are barely beginning to understand what makes up the cosmos. I often now feel like a ‘child’ when the Holy Spirit reveals deeper mysteries to me. I then must rearrange so much of what I thought was reality. There are SO many things hidden from us. And we arrogantly think we’ve got it all figured out.

To actually know God deeper takes a constant supply of humility. The reality of His creation and scope is FAR beyond our understanding currently. Real faith is a mystery. It must be implanted by God within us and it is NOT something we can do ourselves. We are just asked to trust Him. We must ask Him for His faith. Have you noticed that faith is a fruit (Galatians 5:22-23) of the Holy Spirit and a gift (1 Corinthians 12:9) of the Holy Spirit? It is the only one in both lists. Faith is SO powerful that it can accomplish what seems impossible to us.

Then Jesus told them, “I tell you the truth, if you have faith and don’t doubt, you can do things like this and much more. You can even say to this mountain, ‘May you be lifted up and thrown into the sea,’ and it will happen. Matthew 21:21

If something is VERY powerful – is it given out lightly without any regard as to the safety of the individual? Like a gun which can be very effective in its use – but because of its potential we don’t just give it to a very young child. And when we DO give it to a person we love… we are wise to train them in how to use it safely and responsibly. Does God give out great faith to someone who is not spiritually mature? How dangerous is it to our souls if we begin to think the power of healing is because of anything of ourselves? The gift of faith has extreme potential. God allowed Paul to be persecuted by a spirit – because of all the great revelation and spiritual gifting he was given. (2 Corinthians 12:7) Has God found you to be mature enough and obedient enough to bestow you with more faith?

Work hard so you can present yourself to God and receive His approval. Be a good worker, one who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly explains the word of truth. 2 Timothy 2:15

What ‘work’ is Paul referring to when he says this to Timothy? Reread the whole chapter and you will know. Have you received any ‘assignments’ from the Holy Spirit? Do you complete them correctly – following His specific instructions to you, and did you follow His timing in carrying them out? Did you embellish His words with your own ideas or did you hold your tongue and only say what He told you to say? Have your shown yourself to be faithful to what He has asked you to do in the small things?

“If you are faithful in little things, you will be faithful in large ones. But if you are dishonest in little things, you won’t be honest with greater responsibilities.” Luke 16:10

Let’s be faithful with what He has given to us to do today. Honestly. Humbly. Always pointing to Jesus.

  1. I can now see that the testing of faith, building my faith, corrected in lack of faith, basically am the teachings that support and build my faith will continue till my last breath. There will never be an “I have arrived moment”. I may be stronger in faith in some areas than years ago but I’m constantly being revealed to newer areas
