Therefore, confess your sins to one another and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person has great power as it is working. James 5:16
We all must endeavor to adjust our lives to the will of our Lord Jesus. And there are many ways that the Holy Spirit will guide us and teach us in those paths if we will let Him. The Lord’s will is not an easy thing for our flesh to adjust to, and so very often we get into a battle with our ‘adjustment’ with the Holy Spirit over some particular matter; and prayer is the time when that adjustment must be done. Our prayer times give us the opportunity in coming inline with the will of God on all matters.
*True prayer is real confession and humiliation.
*True prayer is a time of complete committal, surrender, and submission to our Lord.
*True prayer is the time for getting right inline with the will of God in all matters in your life.
Now those three things might seem negative, but they are not when you face them because they produce such positive results. Those three lead to a fourth. These lead to true worship. What is the true nature of the spirit of worship? It is a deep unspeakable gratitude for the grace of God. I think we worship only to the degree to the measure and depth we appreciate the grace of God.
How did Paul open so many of his epistles? “Grace, mercy, and peace, be unto you.” Those were foundational for Paul’s life. These were surely his consciousness when entering into his own prayer times before the Father. It was a place of true prayer AND worship for Paul. And it is a model for us as well.
