True Discernment

What is the way to know which way you should go, or know whether something or someone is right?
First let’s look what is spoken about from Paul in the first century to a Church in Galatia.
“But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law. And those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. If we live by the Spirit, let us also keep in step with the Spirit. Let us not become conceited, provoking one another, envying one another.”
Galatians 5:22-26
Let’s consider opposites…
Love vs Hate
Joy vs Depression
Peace vs Wanton Violence
Patience vs Harsh reaction / needs immediate satisfaction
Kindness vs Cruelty
Goodness vs Meanness
Faithfulness vs Betrayal
Gentleness vs Bullying / selfishness
Self Control vs Gluttony / Lust
God comes to speak Truth, give salvation and forgive sin, build up and indwell with the Holy Spirit. John 3:16, 14:6, Mark 1:8, 1 John 1:9
The opposite comes to lie, cheat, steal, and destroy. John 10:10.
So now the choice is yours… on who and which way you will choose and serve.
Actually this choice and challenge is given everyone- (Deuteronomy 30:15-20) as it was given thousands of years ago.
Look through the ‘lens’ God has provided – how do you currently stack up? What are your real motivations? Then what is the ‘fruit’ of the thing, person, group, company, institution you are looking at?
It’s by their fruit you will know whom they serve and what they care about.
Matthew 12:33-37
Don’t be blind. Ask Jesus for His help. Ask Him for His Holy Spirit to indwell you.
Don’t be quick in reaction, but taking every thought and considering it through the ‘lens’ of God. Philippians 4:8
Get wisdom, get understanding, get discernment.
