The Lord has taken his place to contend;
he stands to judge peoples.
The Lord will enter into judgment
with the elders and princes of his people:
“It is you who have devoured the vineyard,
the spoil of the poor is in your houses.
What do you mean by crushing my people,
by grinding the face of the poor?”
declares the Lord God of hosts. Isaiah 3:13-15
Woe be the one who has to stand before the King of the Universe in judgement. For real justice will be meted out, and just punishment will be sentenced. Luckily those who have accepted their fate and cast themselves into the mercy of the Lord and accepted the gift of payment the Son of God has made for them will be spared and ushered into everlasting joy and peace. We have an ‘Advocate’ and ‘Lawyer’ in Jesus Christ who pleads our case before the court of heaven. But for these who do not have Jesus as their ‘Advocate’ … they will stand before the Judge and face eternal punishment for their wickedness and sin. The shout from the true prophet to “repent” is the most merciful message they can bring. These ‘leaders’ have literally stolen the harvest that was to go to the ‘poor’ and taken it for themselves.
How many taxes and regulations by this government have been crafted to do the very same thing by these ‘elders and princes’ in this scripture? Who will actually fight for the poor and common worker? Who will destroy the shackles placed upon the average citizen by this tyrannical government machine which seeks to gobble up every penny the citizen earns? Who will stop the invasive digital data machine looking to control and mark every penny the citizen has? Right now – our country still resembles this chapter, and the ‘reckoning’ is coming to those in control who ‘stole’ from the poor and common citizen of this country. Would you want to be in the ‘line’ having to stand before the Ultimate Judge?
Matthew Henry’s Concise Commentary puts it this way…
“The rule was certain; however there might be national prosperity or trouble, it would be well with the righteous and ill with the wicked. Blessed be God, there is abundant encouragement to the righteous to trust in him, and for sinners to repent and return to him. It was time for the Lord to show his might. He will call men to a strict account for all the wealth and power entrusted to and abused by them. If it is sinful to disregard the necessities of the poor, how odious and wicked a part do they act, who bring men into poverty, and then oppress them!”
Again, the message from the ‘unknown prophets’ is “REPENT!” Isn’t it best to make amends BEFORE having to face judgement for our wicked actions? Are we wrong to speak to our leaders and remind them of what the God of the universe has said? Are we more fearful of these so-called leaders than the One who can cast a soul into flame? Now is the time to stand up and proclaim the truth to those in charge – “God is coming to make things right!”
Father make your will known among the people. Father expose the hidden evil. Father shine your Light that all may see. Father we humbly submit our lives to you, all that we are and have is because of your mercy and grace. Thank You Jesus for your love and sacrifice for me.
