New Horizons

Transitions are hard and difficult. But if we have an attitude of fortitude and push through to the other side, one can enjoy the new vistas, new places, and new opportunities. If we trust our Pilot and His course in our lives we will see brand new things and visit new places. He is the One who knows what we like, what we love, and what lights us up. So I get excited when I read something like…

“Let not your hearts be troubled. Believe in God; believe also in me. In my Father’s house are many rooms. If it were not so, would I have told you that I go to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and will take you to myself, that where I am you may be also.” John 14:1-3

This is the ultimate exciting assured hope. There are so many lessons in this life which test our attitude of gratitude. Will we just complain when the going gets hard and difficult? Will we whine constantly how uncomfortable we are, asking Him to make us feel better? Or will we praise Him in those difficult situations? Do you have the stamina to make it to the end? More and more I know this is a lesson not in our own abilities but how quickly we turn to Him and ask what and how He wants us to proceed. The Holy Spirit providing inspiration and direction in the hardest and darkest of times and places. If only we’d learn quick obedience to His Voice and commands, how much quicker would we grow spiritually.

How do we arrive at new horizons? First we must venture out of our comfort zone. We must be willing to try new things. We can’t be afraid of change. But the best way in my humble opinion is to go on adventures with Him. What that means is being able to listen and obey His promptings and instructions. He will always be pushing us what seems to us beyond our limits, and in someways He is, because He wants you to rely on His strength not yours.

Blessed is the man who remains steadfast under trial, for when he has stood the test he will receive the crown of life, which God has promised to those who love him. James 1:12

Seeing new horizons will have a cost. And many times those rewards will be the result of being able to endure suffering … joyfully. So much in the spiritual life revolves around the ability to be humble and grateful in the hardest and darkest of places and times. Then be able to praise Him in those spaces even though you see no way out. That will draw on the faith He has placed within you. Those tests will show Him whether you are ready for greater amounts of .. faith.

Being able to shine in the darkness only reveals His glory all the more. He is the Light of this world. This isn’t about religion, this is about Jesus. His Glory. His Life. His Holy Spirit indwelling in YOU! The very Presence of God INSIDE of you. Can you allow that Light to shine in the difficult times? That’s the test. If we do well — new horizons will be in our future.

His master said to him, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant. You have been faithful over a little; I will set you over much. Enter into the joy of your master.’ Matthew 25:21
