“And I will pray the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may abide with you forever— the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees Him nor knows Him; but you know Him, for He dwells with you and will be in you.”
“Nevertheless I tell you the truth. It is to your advantage that I go away; for if I do not go away, the Helper will not come to you; but if I depart, I will send Him to you. And when He has come, He will convict the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment: of sin, because they do not believe in Me;”
“However, when He, the Spirit of truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth; for He will not speak on His own authority, but whatever He hears He will speak; and He will tell you things to come. He will glorify Me, for He will take of what is Mine and declare it to you. All things that the Father has are Mine. Therefore I said that He will take of Mine and declare it to you.”
John 14:16-17 NKJV
John 16:7-9 NKJV
John 16:13-15 NKJV
The apostle John said,
“But the anointing which you have received from Him abides in you, and you do not need that anyone teach you; but as the same anointing teaches you concerning all things, and is true, and is not a lie, and just as it has taught you, you will abide in Him.”
1 John 2:27 NKJV
So if you have the Holy Spirit abiding within you … what is the level of relationship you have with Him? Do you converse with Him? Does He speak to you? Do you understand Him? Do you ignore Him? Does He give you assignments? Does He instruct you? Does He teach you? Does He speak to you about things to come? Does He tell you about Jesus? Does He convict you of your wrongs? Does He explain Truth to you? Does He help you understand the scriptures? Does He answer your questions? Does He give you guidance in all areas of your life? Health / medicine? Fitness? Mental? Spiritual? Relationships? Work? Money? Can you hear Him above all the other competing voices / experts? Do you even check with Him on any of those issues?
What does it really mean to abide in Him?
How important is He to you?
Should He be?
Does your life reflect the answer you want to give?
What is holding you back? Why don’t you begin by asking Him?
Or is your ‘faith’ just a … religion, a set of rules, or a membership in a social club?
Would Jesus actually call you His friend?
Is there any evidence that you’ve actually spent any time together? Sitting in a building designated by a sign that says “Church”, do you think that will really count? Do you call everyone who sits in that type of building ‘your friend’? Or anyone that sits in your house? Or is there more that means real friendship? Can you work for someone and they still would not call you their friend?
Real friendship takes commitment and lots of time. Real friendship takes truth, and forgiveness, and humility. Real friends actually.. listen to you. Real friends are allowed to call you … at anytime.
How much time do you spend talking to Jesus?
Step out of religion and into relationship.
Right now would be a good time to begin.
Father … I want relationship with You. Jesus I invite You to make Your Presence real in my life. Speak to me Holy Spirit. Fill every part of me with You. Every cell and thought. Renew my spirit. Immerse and encompass me with Your Presence.
