Now concerning the times and the seasons, brothers, you have no need to have anything written to you. For you yourselves are fully aware that the day of the Lord will come like a thief in the night. While people are saying, “There is peace and security,” then sudden destruction will come upon them as labor pains come upon a pregnant woman, and they will not escape. But you are not in darkness, brothers, for that day to surprise you like a thief. For you are all children of light, children of the day. We are not of the night or of the darkness. So then let us not sleep, as others do, but let us keep awake and be sober. For those who sleep, sleep at night, and those who get drunk, are drunk at night. But since we belong to the day, let us be sober, having put on the breastplate of faith and love, and for a helmet the hope of salvation. For God has not destined us for wrath, but to obtain salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ, who died for us so that whether we are awake or asleep we might live with him. Therefore encourage one another and build one another up, just as you are doing. 1 Thessalonians 5:1-11
Are you a ‘child of the light’? Are you reminded by the Holy Spirit about your spiritual armor of the breastplate righteousness and love, the shield of faith, and the helmet of salvation and how you are ‘activate’ them to help you throughout your day? Is the Holy Spirit helping you with discernment? Are you discipling others while you yourself are being discipled by Him? Are you receiving ‘words’ from the Holy Spirit to encourage those in your ekklesia (Body of Christ you know intimately), on a regular basis?
We are facing all sorts of things in this ‘season’, have you been asking the Holy Spirit what you need to know and do for this season? Are you spending specific time with Him everyday asking Him questions about all sorts of things? Is He asking you to pray for certain people throughout your day? Are you doing it… obediently …the way He wants you to? What are His main instructions to you each day? What is it He is wanting you to learn?
What does it mean to “build one another up”? What generally ‘builds you up’? Each of us are very unique and He knows better what really gives us confidence and strengthens us within our inner person / heart. So direct ‘words’ of encouragement from the Holy Spirit spoken in love through you can have great effect on an individual. Are you focused on Him and His agenda, rather than just your needs and wants?
Is He asking you to ‘step out’ of your comfort zone in faith, trusting Him, to do certain things, and deliver certain gifts / words / and deeds for others? Are you becoming more focused outside of yourself and leaning into His will and wishes?
In this current season … endeavor to become more focused on His agenda for you, especially on what you are to do for others in your immediate circle of influence. Bringing and giving words of encouragement. Doing things to ‘build them up’ in obedience to the instructions given to you by the Holy Spirit.
Say “Yes Lord.. show me the way!” Then do it. Step out.
