But if we hope for what we do not see, we wait for it with patience.
Likewise the Spirit helps us in our weakness. For we do not know what to pray for as we ought, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words. And he who searches hearts knows what is the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for the saints according to the will of God. Romans 8:25-27
Again I say to you, if two of you agree on earth about anything they ask, it will be done for them by my Father in heaven. Matthew 18:19
Who should we agree with in prayer? Who knows the best and highest good in all matters? Who can align perfectly with the preferred will of the Father? When you pray is it always your agenda your way? Do you know how to seek out the Holy Spirit to know what He actually wants? Can you follow His Voice in prayer? Could you agree with Him instead of asking Him to agree with you? Alignment with the will of God requires the mind of Christ. Who knows the mind of Christ but the Holy Spirit?
We so often set our agendas in prayer. We become ritualistic and monotonous in our wording repeating the same words the same way over and over. Do think chanting will help us with the will of God? The enemy’s priests certainly seem to do a lot of chanting. But what does our God require?
From the angel to Daniel..
Then he said to me, “Fear not, Daniel, for from the first day that you set your heart to understand and humbled yourself before your God, your words have been heard, and I have come because of your words. Daniel 10:12
Simply a humble heart with honest words is what God wants from us. 1 Kings 18 has a pretty hilarious story of the prophet Elijah and the prophets of Baal. Chanting didn’t seem to help those boys. God doesn’t want drones He wants friends. God wants relationship with us. That’s why He made us .. to be loved in relationship with Him. If we then have been given the Holy Spirit, who inhabits our very bodies, and can easily communicate to our minds, should we not learn to recognize Him and His Voice within us? Could we not ask the Holy Spirit how and what to pray when praying for others? Do we actually want our prayer to be effective?
For the eyes of the Lord are on the righteous, and His ears are open to their prayer. But the face of the Lord is against those who do evil. 1 Peter 3:2
Therefore, confess your sins to one another and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person has great power as it is working. James 5:16
The Lord is far from the wicked, but he hears the prayer of the righteous. Proverbs 15:29
Is your prayer time a ‘set’ time that you can give Him? So you ask God to squeeze in those few moments and then He needs to do your bidding? Or maybe we should actually ‘wait on the Lord’ and follow His leading in … prayer. Follow His Voice .. as to how to pray and what to pray. This is a communication time between you two. This isn’t a ritual or chant that somehow has magical properties, it’s a simple humble conversation of hearts meeting together that can happen at anytime, anywhere.
So the next time you purpose to meet with Him in prayer .. why not ask Him what He wants you to pray? Are you burdened for another individual? That why don’t you ask Him how to pray for that person?
