Faint of heart.

Hear my cry, O God,
    listen to my prayer;
from the end of the earth I call to
You
    when my heart is faint.
Lead me to the rock
    that is higher than I,
for
You have been my refuge,
a strong tower against the enemy.

Let me dwell in Your tent forever!
Let me take refuge under the shelter of Your wings! Selah Psalm 61:1-4

What is your heart’s cry when everything becomes too much? When your heart is depressed from the constant barrage of the fight – what do you do? Where does your strength come from when you realize you have no strength left? Where does real hope come from? In the midst of all the terrible news surrounding you – where do you turn for ‘good news’? Are you able to hear the Voice of the Holy Spirit in times like these?

Father… surround us with Your Presence! Permeate us completely with Your love and mercy! Lord Your Presence is all we need. Surround us with Your Light! Holy Spirit quiet the noise of the enemy – we want to HEAR You!

Have you created a habit of immediately going to Him when your heart is faint? Have you learned to trust His words to you? Do you write them down? Do you rehearse them when you are feeling down? Your faith is built on what He has told you.

So faith comes from hearing, and hearing by the word of Christ. Romans 10:17

The Greek word for ‘word’ here is ῥῆμα / rhema. What is Rhema? According to Biblehub: Rhēma focuses on a specific utterance—spoken, remembered, or freshly quickened by the Spirit—whereas logos embraces the broader, comprehensive message. Rhēma highlights immediacy, particularity, and personal address.

Rhema is the ‘Word’ spoken personally by God to your individual heart! This IS what we need when the times get tough and everything seems too much for us! To have this kind of mature relationship with Him will require real honesty and regular confession with Him. Can you still your heart and mind enough to … hear and listen to Him? Are you able to repent when He shows you what is blocking you from hearing Him? Are you able to forgive? Are you able to humble yourself completely before Him? Do you surrender quickly to Him, or do you fight the Holy Spirit’s conviction? You must learn to surrender it ALL! Again, and again.

When times get crazy tough – it should be His rhema Word that gets you through. The Holy Spirit reminding you that He is faithful to His Word!

Come Lord Jesus!
