You are of your father the devil, and your will is to do your father’s desires. He was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks out of his own character, for he is a liar and the father of lies. John 8:44
We may not want to admit it, but we listen and agree with lies way more than we think. What’s sad, and worse, is we think that those ‘lies’ are our own thoughts. We quickly and sadly accept those lies as ours. With that we then accept all the guilt and shame that come with those lies. Do you understand that the enemies of God can ‘plant’ thoughts into our minds? How readily do we accept those thoughts? Do you follow the scriptural instruction to ‘check’ those thoughts?
We destroy arguments and every lofty opinion raised against the knowledge of God, and take every thought captive to obey Christ, 2 Corinthians 10:5
How many lies do we still believe and have adopted into ourselves? Have you ever asked the Holy Spirit what lies you still believe? Have you asked Him which lies have shaped your thinking? Lies about your spouse? Lies about your children? Lies about your parents? Lies about your friends? Lies about all the other people you look at? Lies about history? Lies about God? Lies about the human race? Is there a thing the enemies of God haven’t lied about?
Does the enemy want to destroy your relationships? Does your enemy want you miserable? Does the enemy want you depressed? Does the enemy want you ineffective? Do I have to go on? What does God want for you? Do you know?
How fast can you recognize a lie from the enemy when it pops into your head? This has been the strategy from the very beginning, as far back as Eve in the garden. Have we learned yet to seek out the Holy Spirit for the truth of EVERY matter? Has that become your practice and discipline to bow your pride before Christ and submit it ALL to Him? Have you made it a habit to begin asking the Holy Spirit for His ‘take’ on ALL matters, decisions, and questions? Is that ‘line’ of communication open all the time to Him? Are you always ‘listening’ for Him?
How important is it now as the world spins crazily into chaos to be able to recognize the lies from the truth? How important is discernment? How important is wisdom? How important is it to know His heart on things? Now that there are thousands of voices vying for your attention and agreement… how good is your truth ‘filter’ been built by the Holy Spirit? Can you quickly now recognize the enemy’s lies? Has the Holy Spirit advised you on how to protect your heart? How do you keep the heart He is working on within you, and not let it be swayed by the enemy’s lies? (Suggested further reading Hebrews 12:3-17)
Stop. Check in with the Holy Spirit when that thought pops into your mind. Check with the Rhema Word He has given you. Listen to His advice on the matter.
