Where were you when I laid the foundation of the earth?
Tell me, if you have understanding.
Who determined its measurements—surely you know!
Or who stretched the line upon it?
On what were its bases sunk,
or who laid its cornerstone,
when the morning stars sang together
and all the sons of God shouted for joy? Job 38:4-7
For by the grace given to me I say to everyone among you not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think, but to think with sober judgment, each according to the measure of faith that God has assigned. Romans 12:3
Behold, his soul is puffed up; it is not upright within him,
but the righteous shall live by his faith. Habakkuk 2:4
Let no one disqualify you, insisting on asceticism and worship of angels, going on in detail about visions, puffed up without reason by his sensuous mind, and not holding fast to the Head, from whom the whole body, nourished and knit together through its joints and ligaments, grows with a growth that is from God. Colossians 2:18-19
If anyone teaches a different doctrine and does not agree with the sound words of our Lord Jesus Christ and the teaching that accords with godliness, he is puffed up with conceit and understands nothing. He has an unhealthy craving for controversy and for quarrels about words, which produce envy, dissension, slander, evil suspicions, and constant friction among people who are depraved in mind and deprived of the truth, imagining that godliness is a means of gain. 1 Timothy 6:3-5
How large is the universe? Does anyone really know? How powerful is God? What doesn’t He know? Are you so certain of the knowledge you have is absolutely correct? What mysteries draw you in? Are they in rebellion to the things of God? Are you drawn to the light or dark? Do you know God’s ways? His thoughts? Do you understand God’s heart?
Do you know anyone who thinks that religion is the means for gain, power, and influence? Do you think that Sunday morning attendance in a Church means something because you are doing it? What about all the sacrifices and gifts and things you have given and built for God? Were all of them by His prompting or by your efforts to gain His favor?
The older I get the more I realize that His creation and ways are SO far over my head knowledge of ANYTHING. The universe is far beyond our scope of understanding. We know just itty bitty pieces of the building blocks of creation, and think we’re “all that”.
Pride goes before destruction, and a haughty spirit before a fall. Proverbs 16:18
Who have you set as your ‘teacher’? Are they human? Were they set there by God for your upbringing? When did you learn to utilize the Holy Spirit as your ‘Teacher’?
But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things and bring to your remembrance all that I have said to you. John 14:26
Has the Holy Spirit led you into the deeper things of God? Does He expand your understanding so much that you are immediately humbled by what He is teaching and showing you? Does His revelation to you make you rethink much of what you thought you understood?
Are you certain the way things work …are the way you think they do? Are you certain you understand God’s ways or creation?
Approach the Father in true humility of mind, soul, and spirit. Realize you really don’t know much. Ask the Holy Spirit to help you really understand.
Father we acknowledge that You ARE God. You are HOLY.
Jesus help us draw nearer to You. We need to be in union with You.
Holy Spirit – help us to hear you … and obey.
We admit we really don’t know much. Teach us Lord. Help us truly understand your heart.
